Welcome to a new school year!
We are very happy to see you back at school! We've missed you! Whether your child is attending OLF for the first time or whether this is your ninth year with us, your child and you are the reason we are here!
At OLF we are proud to call ourselves a 21st Century Learning Community. We strive to provide the best Catholic education we can offer and we commit ourselves to the mission of our school:
Our Lady of Fatima School is a Catholic parish elementary school. Our mission is to nurture individuals to discover their God-given gifts, to encourage them to use these gifts in the service of others, and to empower them to be models of integrity and peacemakers who work for justice. We -parents, school staff, and parish community - collaborate in striving for excellence in the education of our children.
As we begin the 2012-2013 school year, I invite you to take an active part in your child's education and to support the faculty, staff and administration in their passion for pedagogy. We are your partners for success, and as professional Catholic educators, we love to see God's children grow to their full potential.
Thank you for choosing OLF for your child's educational needs. We look forward to working with your child and your entire family!
Blessings,
Beate Nguyen, M.A.Ed

Pardon our silence!
| |
Over the past three weeks, we have experienced numerous technical difficulties. Some were related to changes made by our newsletter provider Constant Contact, others were due to the Digital Pilot Project for increased bandwidth. We repeatedly lost valuable information, time, effort and Internet access. The good news is that we seem to have fixed things just in time! We're up and running, better and faster than before!

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
| |
At OLF we take great care and pride in providing the safest environment possible for every child, employee, parent and guest! Therefore, the training for Safe Environment and fingerprinting for all volunteers are requirements that are non-negotiable.
Please ensure that as a parent, guardian and family volunteer you are prepared for a great school year by complying with safe environment and fingerprinting requirements. Unless the documentation for both is on file with the school and Diocese of Orange, we at OLF are unable to accommodate your request for active volunteer involvement with children and youth on campus, in the classroom, on the field or during school field trips and community events. We appreciate your cooperation and support! Thank you for your commitment to keeping our children safe! |

Ambassadors @ SC Fiesta
|
While most of us were enjoying the remaining days of summer vacation, our incoming Eighth Graders were already engaged and busy representing our beautiful school at the San Clemente Fiesta, a local street festival which took place Sunday, two weeks ago. Our young "Ambassadors" operated a booth selling fresh fruit and doing face paintings. This allowed them to get a head start in raising funds for their senior year at OLF. Thank you, Ambassadors, for taking on this responsibility and showing such pride in our school! Go Falcons!
The San Clemente Fiesta draws residents and visitors from the entire Southern California region. Our participation gave the school great exposure and visibility within the community.
A special thank you goes to all supporting 8th Grade parents, especially Margaret Senske and Maria Olmos. Thank you to our parish staff for your support with the logistics during summer vacation. We're off to a very good start by modeling collaboration to our 21st Century learners.
