Summer countdown!

Dear Parents and OLF Families,
As the summer progresses and the children are enjoying their free time, we are in full preparation for the beginning of the school year. As always, we want to ensure that our students come back to a clean, safe campus with outstanding faculty, quality resources and the best Catholic learning environment we can provide:
Human Resources:
For the past academic year, I executed all responsibilities that were formerly shared by two administrators. During hall construction, administrative and pastoral transitions many tasks could not have been completed without the help from our Consultative Board, Parents of Fatima, faculty leadership, parish support and parent volunteers. This effective collaboration is the trademark of our 21st Century Learning Community, which strives for continuous self-improvement, innovation and growth.
I am pleased to announce several additional assignments for the new school year:
- Mrs. Jami Rodriguez will support the administration as 3rd Grade Homeroom Teacher and Assistant Vice Principal. Mrs. Rodriguez will receive her administrative credentials by year-end, and is ready to take on several responsibilities. Congratulations on this new assignment!
- Mrs. Dani Kelly, our 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher has agreed to intensify our Learning Support Program. She will assist me in the critical task of coordinating Student Success Teams for additional learning support and maintaining a challenging curriculum for every child at OLF. Thank you for your continued dedication!
- Mrs. Carolyn Fries will serve as the new 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher, since Mrs. Sarah Donovan decided to stay at home with her newborn son. Mrs. Fries will also serve as in-house technology mentor to other faculty members and lead the yearbook elective! Welcome to our team, Mrs. Fries!
- Miss Amy Nelson will serve in the added capacity of Testing Coordinator (MAP - 2nd Grade) with Gesell observations, DIBLES and ITBS/CoGAT, as well as entrance assessments. Thank you for taking on this role in addition to your 2nd Grade Homeroom!
- Mrs. Mary Marsolais and Mrs. Sandy Levisnson will serve as our Student Council Moderators. Thank you for facilitating our student government, a very essential part of our learning process.
- We are in the final stages of hiring a part-time music & choir teacher! Keep your fingers crossed....we had some "high caliber" finalists who applied!
- We are now looking for a part-time Day Care Assistant. Bridget Goodreau is now pursuing her studies full-time, but will continue teaching American Sign Language as an elective! We wish her good luck with her studies!
Our entire faculty team is strong and I value everyone's talent and contributions very much! We are looking forward to a successful year!

SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS:
|
|
Each child should have received their summer assignments which must be completed by August 27, 2012:
Religion:
The yellow "Roman Missal" card was sent home for review of mass responses, since our children are still struggling with the new format of the Roman Missal. Knowing how to participate and properly respond during Mass helps us praise God.
Math:
The workbook serves to review the past school year, and is a foundation for the next grade level. Please ensure completion.
Reading:
Grade specific assignments were given by teachers and will ensure that we keep our reading skills sharp and ready!

Prayers for Lily Needham
| |
We all continue to pray for Lily Needham, our 4th Grader who is still being treated at CHOC Children's Hospital in Orange. Lily will undergo an operation this Friday, and we know she is in the good hands of her doctors! To obtain journal information on her progress and to share in support through ongoing prayers, please visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/lilyneedham
Please pray for Lily!

Parental Volunteer Service Assignments

Announcements for service positions for parent volunteers were mailed. We appreciate your willingness to keep tuition low through this essential parental support! Our children are the ones benefiting from seeing their parents model service, dedication and true love for them!
