Welcome to OLF

        Educating students

to become Catholic leaders

of the 21st Century!

The importance of "Student Government"

Dear Parents and OLF Families,

Our school exists for one reason - our students! The children are at the center of our school's entire existence and the decision-making process focuses on their spiritual growth, individual success and promising future. We all want the best Catholic education for them!

Decisions that center on our students can't be made without the students' involvement. This translates in giving the students a "voice", a forum for discussion and a "think tank" for creative ideas. The structure that support this process is our student government, known as Student Council of the school. Our moderators' responsibility is to ensure that the process is fair and effective.

Our upcoming student council elections for 2012-2013 are focused on empowering each young candidate to "lead by example". The election process is an invaluable learning experience for the students, as they begin their "leadership journey" of serving the entire school community.

With only six positions up for election, our candidates need to cope with the concept of competition and possibly defeat. The thought of "succeeding" can also be scary to a young leader, because once elected, the realization of a huge responsibility sets in. Other students are counting on you!

"Leading by example" means being on time, being organized, being fair and respectful, keeping commitments even when there are "better things to do" and listening to others all the time. Student government works because student council members are expected to formulate school improvement, perform academically, engage socially and grow spiritually!

We wish every one of our student council candidates

a very successful election!

You are the future...

and we want to hear your voice!

Blessings,

Mrs. Beate Nguyen, M.A. Ed.,

Principal
