Discovery of "unfamiliar sounds"
| |
Dear Parents and OLF Families,
Last Friday, you could hear small clapping hands and snapping fingers throughout our new McGowan Hall. All students, teachers and parents were treated to a professional performance by the Alley Cats, an a cappella quartet that has been playing together for decades. This musical journey, in collaboration with the OC Performing Arts Center, took students back to the 50's, 60's and all the way to the present.

The Alley Cats brought both amusement and music theory to the afternoon assembly. The entire hall was filled with happy sounds and the musical experience tested the building's acoustics to its full potential. Many children were able to ask questions about the quartet, their commitment to keeping this musical genre alive. The artists' rendition of the Doo-wop's vocal harmony with many vocal parts demonstrated to students that with neither high tech-equipment nor instruments, one can produce extraordinary music. Our performing arts program is moving forward, even when it takes us "back in time!"
Blessings,
Mrs. Beate Nguyen, M.A. Ed.,
Principal
