Honoring the Holocaust survivors...
| |

Dear Parents and OLF Families,
Last Friday, three young men represented OLF at Chapman University's Annual Holocaust Art & Writing Contest. The contest is sponsored by the Rodgers Center in partnership with The "1939" Club, one of the largest and most active Holocaust survivor organizations in the United States.
This event affords middle and high school students the opportunity to learn about this dark chapter of world history and to benefit from the oral accounts given by Holocaust survivors.
The depth of this learning experience centers around our students' ability to personally connect the memories of survivors and with the dehumanizing and cruel effects of labeling and stereotyping in today's society.
Mrs. Dani Kelly with students Chris G., Willy D. and Sam B.
The Diocese of Orange has actively participated in this event for years and competition was fierce! Twenty nine elementary schools and six secondary schools from the Diocese participated. Entries were submitted from as far as Washington D.C. and the country of Chile.
Congratulations to our students for their effort and participation! You made everyone at OLF very proud!
Blessings,
Mrs. Beate Nguyen, M.A. Ed.,
Principal

Annual Giving Campaign 2011-2012
| |
As most of you are aware, the Annual Giving Campaign has been on going since the beginning of the school year. The Annual Giving Campaign is part of our annual budget, which helps provide improvements, technology tools for our students, faculty upgrades, professional development, and student resources. Thank you to all those who have already donated. If you haven't, please consider making a donation to our Annual Giving Campaign. We are trying to reach 100% participation. Companies that issue grants look to see if an organization has support from their constituents. The school is grateful for any amount given so that we can reach our goal of 100% participation and $40,000 in contributions. Do date we are $16,000 away from our projected goal. Donations can be dropped off in the clinic. You will receive an acknowledgement letter for your tax records. Please help us reach our goal!!! Thank you!!!
