Home of the brave... | |
Dear Parents and OLF families,
Tomorrow, we celebrate Veterans Day with the rest of the nation! This important holiday has special significance for OLF. By our very procimity to Camp Pendleton, we serve many families of Marines, and the larger community of our servicemen and servicewomen. By providing a faith-filled environment for your children, we are supporting you, while your are serving our country.
We honor you, who have served, by celebrating a special Veterans Day Mass. Among our honored guests will be veterans from our Parish, San Clemente and Camp Pendleton. This Mass will be followed by a coffee reception in the Falcons Quad, and classroom presentations. Our students will have the opportunity to meet the brave men and women, and to understand that our freedom makes us who we are, proud Americans.
We want to thank our Veterans for the sacrifices they have made, the hardships they have overcome, and the service they have given! When our students raise the flag each day, they remember the home of the brave!
 In gratitude,
Beate W. Nguyen, M.A.Ed.

Physical Education - long sports pants for Grades 4-8th | |
New! Beginning with the month of November, our 7th and 8th graders were allowed to come to school in their PE uniforms on the days they have PE. This alleviates their transition time and eliminates the restroom situation for changing of clothes. When we have Mass on Friday or on Holy Days of Obligation, the students go to church in regular, full school uniform and then use recess time to change. Due to the cooler weather, we have added an optional item to the OLF uniform list at True Grits:
Click here! PE long sports pants
All students must wear their regular PE shorts underneath these new long sports pants. No exceptions! I am pleased with the positive experience in Junior High! Therefore, beginning November 28th after Thanksgiving, all students in Grades 4 - 8 will be allowed to come to school in PE uniforms on their respective PE days. For the winter months, the new PE pants should be worn to avoid getting cold or ill. A special thank you goes to Mr. Mike Dolan, for sourcing the right sports winter attire! The kids love it! Please, feel free to inspect a sample in our clinic! |
