Ensuring academic success for every child

Dear parents and OLF families,

As you are well aware, we are conducting the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Cognitive Abilities Test (CoGAT) during this week and the next. This standardized assessment of our students' knowledge and abilities at the beginning of the school year, enables educators and parents to use the acquired data for curricular planning and academic support. Gauging the potential of each student  through daily observations, informal and formal assessments and standardized testing, provides the necessary baseline, on which we can build on for the remainder of the year.

As educators, we monitor our student's progress and growth continuously. We are never alone in doing so! With God watching over us and guiding us, we work hard  to ensure high academic standards and the academic success for every child.

Parents can expect to receive the results of the ITBS/CoGAT tests by the middle of November. Our student-led review conferences at the end of October, are another opportunity for teachers, parents and students to work together to ensure high academic achievement.
