Our Lady of Fatima Parish School

Welcome to OLF
A new chapter begins....

Enjoy your summer vacation!

Dear Parents and Parish Families,

It is my great privilege to join the OLF Family and to serve as your new Principal. Thank you for the warm welcome during these summer days of transition! Upon my arrival, I had an opportunity to meet with my faculty, some students and many parents. Your kindness and support said it all: "We are one OLF family, one team, one body of Christ!"

Mrs. Nguyen      While my staff and I are busy preparing for the new school year, I hope that you are able to spend time with your children! Vacation is a time for fun, friends, family and more! During summer time, our childrens' playful explorations, travels and games are to be encouraged!  Our students have a great opportunity to augment their love for learning outside of the classroom!

When you stroll down the beach together, stop to marvel at God's intricate design of every seashell, for example.  When flying to your destination, defeat the long flight time by sharing your knowledge of travel throughout the centuries...or explain the laws of physics, that allow you to float through the Heavens! At the grocery store, have your child estimate the cost of your purchase before you check-out at the counter or have them verify the savings at home, using mental math.

There are so many simple ways to enrich our daily vacation experience and have fun at the same time. If your child doesn't want to write or record in their diary, have them paint what they experienced, instead! If your children do not want to read a hardcover book, have them listen to a story, or allow them to touch the story by playing with your Kindle.

Whatever you are doing together as a family, or wherever you are traveling during this vacation, God is always with you, watching over you! May your vacation time together be an opportunity to recharge your body, spirit and soul! I pray for your safe travels.

See you in August!

Mrs. Beate Nguyen, M.A.Ed.

Students who are actively engaged in learning and reviewing over the summer, come into the school year with higher retention and proof of success. Last year's MAP students received their 1st grade books and must complete only the first 10 weeks. The remainder of the book will be used during their first grade year. All other students are required to complete the book over the summer and return it on August 30th.

JUNIOR HIGH - SUMMER CRISPIN PROJECT

Crispin Character Project

CRISPIN CHARACTER PROJECT:

FOR INCOMING 7TH & 8TH GRADERS DUE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

For this cross-curricular project, you will take an in-depth look at one of the characters from the summer reading novel to complete a character development project with history and language arts components. This project will be used for history and language arts grades. Please find the attachment outlining the Crispin Project under "Important documents", listed above.

REMINDER FROM THE CLINIC

Knowing that your child is healthy is a true blessing! Summer vacation is a perfect time to get your child's annual health check taken care of. Contact your health care provider early before the start of school, when appointments become more difficult to obtain.  If your student needs a vision check, dentist appointment or requires athletic clearance to participate in team sports, you can get a head start now!

For your child's vaccination needs as required by CA law, please consult your pediatrician. All 7th & 8th graders are required to have proof of their T-dap booster immunizations, before being permitted into the classrooms.
