NOTE!!!  After School Care & SOAR
Due to Construction and the upcoming holiday, there will not be AFTER SCHOOL CARE or SOAR available on Thursday, December 16 and Friday, December 17. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Dear Parents,

Under ConstructionThank you for your patience as we accommodate the construction and weather into our routine here at OLF. Included today in your yellow communication folders and electronically attached today are the NEW traffic patterns for January. They are significantly different. Please take time to look them over before arriving on January 3rd.  During drop off, it is very important if your child is not prepared to hop out of the car without assistance, that you travel to the parking area and walk your student in. The line is moving especially slow due to parents helping with shoes,  coats, backpacks, etc. Thank you for helping to move the line along. The traffic pattern beginning in January should remain the same until at least March.

I will be including a Construction Update section in our weekly newsletter and update as needed in order to keep all our families informed of upcoming changes.

Thank you to Miss Lautsch for sharing her talents and providing such a wonderful Christmas play and concert this past week. As a school, we have been involved in many Advent activities to prepare the children.  I thank all the parents, faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly to make this season so meaningful for the children.  Our school community is definitely ready for Christmas.

Construction Update from the Parish

Construction on our new parish hall is underway.  Several significant changes have already occurred during this first week of work.

The Presidio driveway is currently closed to all traffic until December 23 for improvement work.  It will reopen for Christmas Masses.

The driveway between the church and the hall will be closed on Friday, Dec 17.  For the next several weeks, all traffic must turn to the right at the top of the Esperanza driveway.  Parking will still be available in front of the church.  When arriving and leaving, please follow the directions of our Knights of Columbus who have directed our Christmas and Easter traffic in the past.

Please use the highest degree of caution and courtesy while driving on parish grounds.  Allow extra time for arriving and departing Mass and parish events.  Please follow all signs and the directions of parish volunteers who will be present in the parking lot to assist you.

A note from Mrs. Isaksen

Dear Our Lady of Fatima Students, Parents and Families,

It's with mixed emotions I share with you that I have decided to retire from my first grade assistant teacher position.  I will not be coming back after winter break, but wish you all a good rest of the year.

I would like to thank all of the OLF staff, children, and the wonderful families that I've had the pleasure to work with over the past 3 years.  I will miss you all, but of course you will continue to see me as I drop off Mackenzie, attend to my other OLF volunteer duties and participate in school activities.

Wishing you and yours a festive and blessed Christmas and New Years.

Sincerely,  Mrs. Isaksen

From the Office: Our Lady of Fatima will be welcoming Mrs. Donna Alexander to our 1st grade TA and supervision position. She will begin on Monday, January 3rd.

Congratulations to 8th grader Shaughn Ritchie!
Shaughn was selected as the first place winner for the Veterans of Foreign Wars essay contest. Shaughn was chosen as the top essayist from the junior high category in the San Clemente region. The essay's topic was for student interpretation on patriotism and its significance in our society. In addition to a monetary prize, the local chapter of the VFW hosted adinner reception at Bad to the Bone. Many veterans and their spouses, Shaughn and his parents, and Mrs. Kelly attended the reception. Shaughn was presented an enscribed plaque and had the opportunity to be in the presence of and converse with many veterans who appreciated his sentiments on patriotism.  Way to go, Shaughn! We are proud of you and look forward to witnessing your other accomplishments.
