Hocking College Support Staff in Crisis

 

The following important information comes from LRC Linda Repko out of the Athens UniServ office.  With the current political climate, this could be any one of our locals.  Please read and consider what you can do to support our brothers and sisters during this difficult time.

Hello Presidents-
 
I am writing to let you all know that Hocking College Support Staff Union  is in crisis. This group has been negotiating since April 20, 2011, and has been working without a contract since July 1, 2011. The Board at the College is pushing some extreme ideas (much akin to legislation from SB 5). I encourage you all to share this information with your Unions, and encourage folks to reach out to assist this group in any way possible. This group will be canvassing in Nelsonville this Sunday 2/26 at 1:45 pm (they will congregate in the parking lot of Fruth Pharmacy). On Tuesday 2/28, there will be a board meeting at the Logan Campus (during which there is a time for public comment). On Thursday, 3/1 there will be an informational picket at the College to distribute literature to students and visitors from 10 am to 6pm (we will meet outside of the College Bookstore). Also there is a Facebook page entitled: "Hocking College Support Staff Deserves a FAIR Contract" where you can post support and get information on activities and articles.
