VOTE NO ON ISSUE 2
Election Day 2011 is just a couple of days away, the polls are showing anti-issue 2 support ahead of the proponents so we are assured of defeating Issue 2 on Tuesday, right? Absolutely not! We can only win if all those who are indicating they will vote no will get to the polls and actually vote that way.
Our ability to negotiate all things relative to our working conditions which are our students learning conditions is on the line. The safety of our communities may be in jeopardy as public safety forces may no longer be able to negotiate for staffing, scheduling and safety equipment to make them safer as they work to keep us safe. The middle class as we know it may become a thing of the past.
Please continue to speak with friends, family and neighbors between now and Tuesday, remind them to vote, take them to the polls or participate in last minute canvassing and phone banking. Now is the time to send a strong message that public employees ARE NOT the cause of our economic problems, that we don't make exhorbitant salaries and benefits and that we are willing to negotiate TRULY REASONABLE reforms unike those contained in this bill.
The Koch brothers and other big contributors have poured a lot of money into Ohio this weekend to promote this bill and their agenda to eliminate unions and to reduce wages and benefits so they can increase their profits and reduce the middle class. They are continuing to spout the flawed research emanating from the conservative think tanks supported by the same big money contributors. Let's show them that this bill can't be bought.
