According to an Ohio EdConnection newsletter sent out by our superintendent today, State Superintendent of Instruction Deborah Delisle is resigning, effective April 30.  According to her letter she was approached by two members of Kasich's staff and was told that if she did not resign she would be fired by the State Board of Education.  This will proabably make it easier for Kasich to follow through with his intention to bring Teach for America (six weeks of training = qualified to be teacher of record) to Ohio with the support of his own appointee.  The full text of her informational note and letter of resignation may be found here.

Let's remember her belief that the quality of a child's education should not be determined by their Zip Code.
