President's Message | Dear NTMCA Members:
I am excited to be able to serve the NTMCA members as the 2010-2011 President. As you all know, one person cannot do this alone. It takes TEAMWORK. With the help of an amazing Board: Kim Sutter, Vice President, City of Euless; Norma Zenk, Treasurer, City of Azle; Alicia Richardson, City of Highland Village; and Diane Cockrell, Historian, City of Decatur; and our team of amazing members, all working together, we will make the NTMCA Chapter the greatest municipal clerk's chapter in Texas!
Last year was a great year under the exceptional leadership of President Linda Rhodes. Linda did a great job of bringing us all together. Our membership count exceeded our expectations. We had great turnout at our meetings. Thanks to the hard work of Alicia Richardson and the Board, we now have our own Chapter website. If you haven't had a chance, take a minute to check it out at www.ntmca.org.
We are planning several changes this year. Among them, we will be conducting our meetings in various locations and on various dates with the hopes of involving more of the membership. Member cities will be hosting the monthly meetings, so if you wish to host a meeting in your city, contact me or a member of the Board. Also, if there is a particular topic you would like to see addressed at one of our monthly meetings, please let me know.
I challenge each of you to take an active role in the chapter. Participate by volunteering to serve on one of the various committees. Appointments to the various committees will be done in November, so don't forget to complete the Committee Interest Form and return it to me as soon as possible.
Again, I am honored to serve each of you as the President NTMCA.
Thank you.

September 08, 2010 NTMCA Business Luncheon | Despite the rain, we had a good showing of members...or shall I say geese...at our business luncheon. Prior to installing the new officers, TMCA President Pamela Schmidt shared the story about "A Gaggle of Geese" that appropriately describes our organization. The story is included on the quick links. The membership approved the following: - monthly treasurer reports (July & August);
- July 2010 minutes;
- $150.00 one-time scholarship contribution to Frank Sturzl; and
- Fiscal Year 2010/2011 budget
Members were reminded to provide Alicia Richardon with a photo to upload to our chapter website.
A big HONK to Linda Rhodes for her service this past year. She was instrumental in providing new direction for our chapter.
In preparation for our November 08, 2010 meeting, the minutes of the September meeting are provided for your review. |

Membership Reminder | Now that budget season is behind us. Please remember to complete an application for 2010/2011 membership. The completed application and payment should be mailed to 613 S.E. Parkway, Azle, TX 76020, Attn: Norma Zenk. I challenge you to get your application in by November 30, 2010. As an incentive, all names will be placed in a drawing for a gift. The winner will be drawn at the December 8, 2010 luncheon. |
NTMCA Website |
Please remember to visit our website. It was created to provide our Chapter with helpful information. A roster of our membership is located on the Member Photo Directory page. There are two roster files, which are organized by city and last name. This should prove helpful for the times when you are looking for contact information and time or deadlines prevent you from searching the internet.
We need additional eyes to review our website to ensure our content is accurate. If you notice an error, please send an e-mail to ntmca@ymail.com. |
Commitee Updates | Alyce Deering Scholarship Committee Chair Mary Kayser reports the committee recommends the following for the Alyce Deering Scholarship Program:
The Alyce Deering Scholarship was created in 2006 and there have been eight (8) scholarships awarded. The committee felt that it was time to review the program and will be recommending the following to the membership at the November 2010 meeting: - Updated Purpose Statement for the program
- Updated application form
- Updated scoring sheet
The changes are as follows: - We have added a requirement that applicants must have attended at least four (4) NTMCA meetings in the last 12 months
- The recipient of the scholarship agrees to serve on a NTMCA Committee for the next year, provide an article for the newsletter, or be a speaker for a meeting to recap the information learned at the conference or seminar
- A copy of the applicant's TMCCP transcript must be included with the application
In addition, the committee would like to discuss fund raising for the Alyce Deering Scholarship account. Some options that we might consider would be:
- Raffle at each NTMCA meeting
- Silent auction at the Christmas luncheon, this could be in lieu of the raffle or in addition to the raffle

In closing, I would be remiss if I did not list a few of the many qualities of geese...communication, determination, fellowship, teamwork, confidence, protection, bravery and loyalty.
We are an awesome chapter...let's lead and be a model for our sister chapters. Honk Honk! |
