It has been one year since the barn fire at True Prospect Farm that brought such devastation and loss to the teams and connections of Boyd Martin and Phillip Dutton. In the year since, both teams have moved forward with tremendous support from the eventing community. Although small, it is a very tight group that it is my privilege to work with.

March brought indescribable grief with the unimaginable loss of our great friend Amy Tryon, who left us far too young and with yet so much to offer in her own special way.

In April, we were all saddened to learn of the tragic losses suffered by  Martha McDowell in the barn fire that took so many horses in Montana.

The last few days have brought overwhelming tragedy to our fellow friends Michael and Nathalie Pollard through the needless and thoughtless actions of a driver who in one fell swoop caused the lives of several beautiful and talented horses to be cut short. When one also considers the time and effort necessary to produce horses to this level, it is a tragedy on an epic scale that has gutted the eventing community.

The subsequent loss of Dr. Craig Ferrell has also proved how cruel and unpredictable life can be. As we look forward to the future, it is my hope that as a community we can prove once again that we take care of our own in ways both big and small.
