What horse changed your career?

The horse that gave me my wings and fairy dust was a big grey Irish sport horse named Glenroyd. He was my magic, my angel and my love. We did many 3* and 4 * events together in the US and Europe. He was wild but I trusted every inch of him. He gave me confidence to train many horses from breaking to the top levels. He will always hold a huge piece of my heart.

Can you tell us about your pre-competition routine and/or rituals?

I believe if you want to be a professional you must turn yourself out like one. When I was younger I had many rituals, but as I have gotten older and wiser (I think), the only thing I rarely do is wear matching socks. Most importantly, I wake up to be kind honest and work hard with gratitude.

What's the best advice you have for riders who want to increase their riding skills and horsemanship?

You need to know more than just how to ride. Knowledge of fitness, feeding, daily proper care, tack fitting, understanding your animal's body and how to best help them should be a huge emphasis. I feel this country often lacks in correct horse skills that I learned through Pony Club, doing my British Horse Society exams, and working around many of the world's top equestrians. With riding, a lot of young people need to take emotion out of the tack; I have never known a great rider who rides from emotion, especially when training horses. Make sure you ask the questions of your horse correctly before you decide they aren't listening.

Last book read?

The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho

If you weren't a professional event rider, what would you be?

I am a managing partner of two companies: Platinum Pistol Bucking Bulls (breeding and training bulls for the PBR), and Platinum Pistol Couture. My life is fabulous horses, bulls and fashion. I am also coaching the Venezuelan Eventers to the Pan American games. The only thing I may like one day is a family, but my journey isn't over yet.

What famous person (living or deceased) would you most like to have a conversation with?

Marilyn Monroe ... I believe we would have had a lot to talk about.

Which phase do you like most and why?

With great horses, all of eventing is Fabulous!

When and why did you decide to turn professional?

I had a dream ... a vision that added hard work, sweat, tears and years of time in the tack.

How did your family respond to your decision to ride horses professionally?

I first rode for the U.S. as a teenager, one of the top five kids chosen for the United States Mounted Games Team, and competed all over U.S. and Europe; Madison Square Garden, Windsor Royal Horse show, Welsh Royal, and many more. I then evented for many years at the 3* and 4* levels, took a break, and trained my own 15 horses to play in the Polo U.S. Open, being one of two women. Now I am full-circle, back to playing in my favorite sport ... Eventing!

Which horseman/horsewoman has been the most influential in your own development or career?

I have been blessed to have worked with so many greats. Jane and Christopher Bartle, Sandy and Capt. Mark Phillips, Ian Stark, Jimmy Wofford, David and Karen O'Connor, Jim Koford, Katie Prudent, George Morris and Jimmy Toon ... just off the top of my head. They have all touched and influenced me and my riding.

What motto best describes you?

"There will be only one of me for all times so I must fearlessly be Myself!"

My favorite sayings:

- Not my pig not my farm (in other words, it's none of my business)

- Don't beat a goat for being a goat (I can't change anyone but myself)

- Keep kickin'
