Spring has finally arrived! In addition to enjoying sunny warm weather, the excitement of spring break and PROM is
in the air. This newsletter contains impressive achievements of our CTSO competitors. DACC students have proven great success in all areas of accomplishments. We are very excited to share BIG NEWS about our students advancing to State and National competitions! With all this said; sit back, relax and enjoy all the great DACC news! Prom
Where: Brookshire Premier Event Center | 405 Grief Parkway When: April 14 from 8:00 - 11:00 PM Cost: $20.00 per person.
Photos from last year's prom can be found on our Flickr site. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN has been selected by the students of North and South Campus as the 2012 DACC Prom Theme. Dress is semi-formal. While we are always excited to see the new trends and styles of the year, please remind your child that appropriate attire is expected and appreciated. |
Guests Attending DACC Prom
Students bringing an outside guest will need to fill out a guest form. Prom guest forms are available for download on the DACC website; www.DelawareAreaCC.org They are also available from Mrs. Pemberton in the main office at North Campus and Mrs. English at South Campus. All guest forms are due to DACC no later than April 11th at 3pm.
DACC does not permit guests over the age of 21 or in middle school. All guests must follow the DACC Code of Conduct. No guest will be admitted the night of the dance without a guest form on file. All guests must present photo identification upon arrival. |
Prom Dress Giveaway There will be a FREE Prom Dress Giveaway on March 17th from 9:00 AM till 12:00 PM at the Journey Fellowship Church in Sunbury, Ohio. The Church is located on the square.
There will be refreshments and vendors for discounts on flowers, spray tans, and hair salons.
Please have your DACC School ID with you. |
North Campus Students of the Month
Congratulations to our North Campus Students of the Month!
Anthony Monaco, Junior in the Auto Technology Program,
comes to us from Olentangy Orange.
Rebekah Walker, Senior in the Early Childhood Education Program, comes to us from Thomas Worthington.
North Campus students of the month are nominated by and voted on by North Campus staff members. Each month a student is selected for Student of the Month based on their excellent attitude and commitment to learning.

DACC/WKHS Teacher Academy Students Compete at the State Level
Congratulations to the students in our Worthington Kilbourne Teacher Academy Program for their achievements at the Future Educators Association State Competition. They earned the Honors Chapter Award for their service to school and community and for maintaining a high GPA average as a class. Jenny Zavatsky placed 3rd in Prepared Speech. Zack Pendleton and Rachel Berg placed 3rd in Chapter Display.

Alex Jokerst named this week's Delaware Gazette Teen of the Week
Congratulations Alex! Alex is a Senior in the Information Technology Academy - Networking Program and comes to us from Westerville Central. He is heavily involved in activities both in school and outside of school, including Boy Scouts, being a DACC Ambassador and Blogger, competing in Business Professionals of America, and promoting literature and diversity at Westerville Central through an NHS book exchange.

DACC Students Place at SkillsUSA Regionals & Will Compete at State Level
Congratulations to our SkillsUSA Regional winners!
These students will go on to compete at the state level:
Chris Ray in Automotive Technology won the silver medal at the regional competition. Austin Hale of ITA/Networking took first place in Computer Maintenance Technology. Jessica Hunter, Ashleigh Keller, Andrea Reynolds, and Krystina Stacy from Health Technology took third place as a group in the Health Technology Bowl. Michael Morris in Electronics took third in Job Skills Demo. Cassie Brown in Dental Assisting took third in Job Skills Demo. Lucinda Gray and Andrew Blake in Career Graphics took third place in the Promotional Bulletin Board competition. Chaz Monday in Welding and Sheet Metal took 1st place. Mike Newman, Justin Viers, and Thomas Presley in the Power Sports and Diesel Technology team took first place in the Ag Skills Career Development event. Destinee Hughes in Cosmetology took third place. Tim Garwood in Fire Service
took first place in the Job Interview event. Jesse Cundiff in Fire Service took third place in CPR/First Aid. Patrick Archambeau in Fire Service took third place in Prepared Speech. ECE Students Take First Place at FCCLA Local Competition

FFA Competitors Qualify for State Competition
Congratulations to our FFA competitors who participated in the District event on March 1st.
The Ag Skills Team of Justin Viers, Thomas Presley and Mike Newman placed 2nd at the District 6 Agriculture Skills Career Development Event. Justin, Thomas and Mike will go on to compete at the State Event on April 13th.

Sixteen Fire Students are now Certified Fire Fighters
Congratulations Kyle Baker, Ian Barney, Andrew Blevins, Samantha Brown, Garrett Caldwell, Eric Daugherty, Forrest Dill, Zachary Losh, Sean Marsee, William Neumeyer, Garrett Nye, Chad Silverthorne, Alyssa Strawser, James Thew, Kyle Thornton, and Ryan Tutorow. These 16 students passed the State Fire Exam and are now certified Fire Fighters in the State of Ohio. According to Fire Instructor, Dan Huffman, this if the first high school training class where all of the eligible students passed on the first try. |
Just a reminder to all that the DACC Awards Ceremony will be Wednesday, May 23rd, at 7 PM at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus. This is the culminating event for students that have completed their Career Technical training at the career center. Students will be presented their Career Passports and recognized for their achievements.

Delaware Rotary 2012 Speech Contest

Don't miss out on this great opportunity!
Freshmen through seniors from Buckeye Valley High School, Delaware Area Career Center, Delaware Christian School, Delaware Hayes High School, and Home-Schooled students within the area have been invited by the Delaware Rotary Club to enter the 2012 Four-Way Test Speech Contest.
Students are asked to compose a speech applying the Rotary Four-Way Test to everyday relationships. This is the Rotary statement of principle, recited each week at the start of thousands of Rotary meetings around the world. Students are encouraged to be as creative as they want.
A panel of judges will choose the first, second, and third places winners. There are cash prizes, and the first place winner will go on to compete in a district contest on Saturday, April 21st, in Westerville.
Students can pick up the contest rules and registration form at DACC North Campus in the attendance, guidance, or administration office.
Completed Registration forms are due by April 6th. |
Parents - if you feel strongly about telling others what a great education your student is getting at DACC, we want to hear from you. We are looking for current and past parents to provide written testimonials and a few parents to come in for a video interview. If you are interested in helping us with this project, please contact our Public Relations Coordinator at MowryA@DelawareAreaCC.org. |

The review process has begun! Application acceptance/non-acceptance letters will begin to be mailed at two week intervals. The upcoming mailing schedule is:

* NOTE - March 26-30, 2012 DACC staff will be on Spring Break - During this time staff will be unavailable to address phone calls regarding application acceptances or receipt.
Even if an application was received early, a mailed response should be received according to one of the mailing dates listed above.
Applications will continue to be taken and processed throughout the summer, but some instructional programs are in high demand and fill early. Don't get closed out of a lab of your choice by delaying application for it! Acceptance is not guaranteed on a first come, first served basis. Acceptance decisions are made through the DACC application review process.
Students that applied should have received a postcard indicating that DACC has received your application.
