Wow, hard to believe winter is almost over!  In a couple of months we will be enjoying the sights and sounds of spring!  Before we know it spring break will be here.  Students have enjoyed competiton accomplishments and continue to be challenged each day in their labs.  We are proud to share some of the exciting stuff going on around here!

Open House

DACC is hosting Open House Thursday, February 16th from 5-8pm. Some of our students have volunteered to be in attendance to help us talk about the program from a student-to-student perspective, so thank you to them and to their parents for letting us borrow them. If you know anyone who is interested in attending DACC next year, please encourage them to attend our Open House event.  Refreshments will be provided by Papa Murphy's from 5-7 pm.   More information can be found on our web site.

DACC Landscape Management team placed 11th in the state of Ohio
On January 19, a team of junior and senior DACC Landscape students competed in an online Ohio FFA competition and placed 7th overall in the state of Ohio.  In the hands-on portion, they placed 11th and the top four DACC students will go on to compete at the final competition in March.  Click the link below to read more on our website  http://www.delawareareacc.org/high-school/about/news/139

 

30 BPA Students Going on to Compete at State Level
Congratulations to all of our students who competed at the Business Professionals of America Competition on January 28th. We have 30 students going on to compete at the state level.  It was a great year!

Delaware Rotary 2012 Speech Contest

Where: Willow Brook at Delaware Run | West William St

             Delaware, Ohio

When:   Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Time:    Between 7and 9 PM

Registration Deadline:  April 6, 2012


Don't miss out on this great opportunity!

 

Freshmen through seniors from Buckeye Valley High School, Delaware Area Career Center, Delaware Christian School, Delaware Hayes High School, and Home-Schooled students within the area have been invited by the Delaware Rotary Club to enter the 2012 Four-Way Test Speech Contest. 

 

Students are asked to compose a speech applying the Rotary Four-Way Test to everyday relationships.  This is the Rotary statement of principle, recited each week at the start of thousands of Rotary meetings around the world.  Students are encouraged to be as creative as they want. 

 

A panel of judges will choose the winners-first, second, and third places. There are cash prizes, and the first place winner will go on to compete in a district contest on Saturday, April 21st, in Westerville. 

 

Students can pick up the contest rules and registration form at DACC North Campus in either, the attendance, guidance, or administration office.

 

Completed Registration forms are due by April 6th. 

 

Prom 

Where: Brookshire Premier Event Center | 405 Grief Parkway
When: April 14th, 8:00 - 11:00pm
Cost: $20.00 per person. Ticket sales will begin March 19th

    
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN has been selected by the students of North and South campus as the 2012 DACC Prom Theme. 

 

Dress is semi-formal.  And while we are always excited to see the new trends and styles of the year, please remind your child that appropriate attire is expected and appreciate. 

 

Nominations for the 2012 Prom Court will begin in the very near future.

Completion Ceremony

Just a reminder to all that the DACC Awards Ceremony will be Wednesday May 23rd at 7pm at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus. This is the culminating event for students that have completed their career Technical training at the Career center. Students will be presented their Career Passports and recognized for their achievements.  

 

More details about Senior breakfast, rehearsal and Sr. activities will follow in future editions of this newsletter. Please reserve the date for our Awards Ceremony as we would love to see you there!  

National Technical Honor Society

National Technical Honor Society inducts members once a year based on requirements of the national organization.  Any questions should be directed to your DACC guidance counselor.

Students and Parents:  Please review The Student Code of Conduct.  This can be found in the Student Handbooks, posted in several hallways throughout the school, and on the DACC website. 

 

Promoting DACC

Parents - if you feel strongly about telling others what a great education your student is getting at DACC, we want to hear from you. We are looking for current and past parents to provide written testimonials and a few parents to come in for a video interview. If you are interested in helping us with this project, please contact our Public Relations Coordinator at MowryA@DelawareAreaCC.org.
