Clinton Tourism Association, operating out of the Chamber of Commerce, was recently awarded a grant by the Truman Lake Community Foundation. Clinton Tourism Association places brochure racks in businesses where visitors often stop. The grant money was used to purchase ten new brochure racks to be placed in new locations and replace brocken racks. Volunteer Linda Price has been keeping the racks filled with brochures on Clinton, the Henry County Museum, Katy Trail, Truman Lake and area antique stores.

Fundamentals of Economic Development workshop

Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission with the assistance of GCACC-Economic Development and KCP&L will be hosting a "Fundamentals of Economic Development" seminar on January 18.  The event will be held from 9am to 3pm at the Elks Lodge, 115 W. Franklin St.

The workshop presents an overview of the economic development process using a series of short, focused presentations.  The topics covered are similar to the core concepts included in training course attended by professional economic developers from across the country.  The workshop is intended to give the non-professional a basic understand of economic development strategies and tools.  Participants will learn what economic development professionals do and where to go for assistance.

This workshop is designed for city, county, and state elected officials; members of local economic development organization boards of directors; volunteers and anyone else interested in learning more about the process of economic development.

For more information or to register, please contact Reba Jackman, 908 N. 2nd St., Clinton, MO, 660 885-3393 by January 11th.

This seminar is open to anyone, but is geared toward those with new businesses and those thinking of starting a business. It will cover a variety of topics, including basics like business plans.

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 15 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It will be held at the Business Development Center in Clinton and lunch will be provided by Pizza Glen. To register or for more information, please contact Megan or Christa.
