The car has been on display in Phoenix, AZ, for the last year at a vintage car museum but is now back home for a while. Bring your family and friends, load up the lawn chairs, and come downtown to enjoy popcorn and a movie, courtesy of sponsor Hawthorn Bank. We will have great giveaways for drivers so if you have a car you want to bring to Cruise Night, be sure to register. All drivers are automatically registered to win $100; Shop Vac; Car Charger, Auto Creeper and more. Registration starts at 6 p.m.-an hour later than usual-to try to avoid some of the heat. Crappie Masters coming to Clinton!
This fall, 250 teams of anglers from across the nation will be in Clinton for the Crappie Masters National Championship. The tournament, to be held October 5-9, is what the anglers work to qualify for all summer long.
The two-person teams will register at the Benson Center on October 6, and following registration will be a Boat Parade. Residents are encouraged to line the streets of Clinton and view the boats that will be decorated to win one of three themed categories. (The parade route will be announced soon.)
A tremendous economic impact is expected in the Clinton area. "We expect around 500 anglers, not to mention the media, Crappie Masters staff and spectators who will attend the National Championship," said Megan Asbill, director of Tourism at the Chamber of Commerce. "The anglers will also pre-fish before the event. When you think about how many night stays, fuel fill-ups and meals that amounts to, it's pretty overwhelming. The exposure Truman Lake and Clinton will receive from this event is priceless."
On Thursday, October 7 there will be a Media Fish-Off in conjunction with the Pro event. Media persons will team up with the professional anglers and head out on Truman Lake for a few hours. They'll weigh in at 11:30 a.m. before having lunch at Bucksaw.
Area businesses that would like to be part of the Crappie Masters Registration Event at the Benson Center on October 6 should contact Bob May at KDKD-KXEA Radio for details. They have made arrangements to offer special display and advertising packages for any business that would like to get in front of the 250 teams that will be coming to Clinton. Ask Bob about the Media Fish-Off with the Pro's event. Bob can be reached at 660-885-6141 or bob@kdkd.net. |
Why do YOU live, work and play in Clinton? Is it because you love the people? Can't get enough of Truman Lake? Or do you enjoy being close to family? Well, whatever the reason(s), we want to hear about it! One of the things we do at the Chamber of Commerce is tell people all about our "Great People, By Nature" community. We love to share with them how friendly the locals are, and we love telling them all about the great outdoor activities available in our area. Then there's the antiquing, our great Community Center...well, you get the picture. We're always telling people why WE love it here, but we'd like to tell them why YOU love it here! We want to know why you live, work and play in Clinton so we can tell other folks about it. We may even quote you in a publication or share your thoughts with a vistor who stops in the Depot. So how about it? Will you tell us why YOU live, work and play in Clinton, MO? |
