Downtown Strategic Plan Review
Join us for our next quarterly roundtable discussion!
Through the DREAM initiative sponsored by the state of Missouri, the City of Clinton and Clinton Main Street have been working with PGAV, Inc., a community planning firm, for the past three years to develop a Downtown Strategic Plan.
Some of the services that have been performed leading up to the Downtown Strategic Plan are Community and Consumer Surveys, Retail Market Analysis, Financial Assistance Review, Marketing and Community Relations Plan, and Organizational Structure Review.  Through use of all these tools, desired outcomes have been determined and a preliminary vision for the 10-15 year plan was formed by the Downtown DREAM Committee which is the first draft of the Downtown Strategic Plan.
This plan will be reviewed on Monday evening, June 14, from 5:30-6:30 at Clinton City Hall. There will be a short presentation at 6 p.m. with questions and answers to follow.  This is a public meeting and the public is encouraged to attend and to participate with their ideas and suggestions before the plan is finalized later this summer.
Clinton's last Master Plan was developed in 1995. It is time for a new plan and to extend the vision for our community. Please join us to help plan our future.

Katy Trail 20th Anniversary Celebration
6:30 a.m., Friday, May 28 - It was early, but we were ready! Communities along the entire Katy Trail are celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and it all began in Clinton on Friday morning.
The 2010 Pedaler's Jamboree, Katy Trail Celebration Ride and Torch Relay kicked off in Clinton. Cyclists and torch relay runners set off to travel the entire trail over the weekend, stopping in communities along the way for music, food and festivities!
The Clinton Chamber of Commerce coordinated Friday's kick-off celebration. "Clinton is blessed to be the western head of the Katy Trail, and this community is very aware of that fact. We are thrilled to be a part of the 20th anniversary celebration!" said Megan Asbill, Tourism Director.
The Hampton Inn provided breakfast for everyone who stopped by throughout the morning, and Bob May and David Lee were LIVE at the KATY for the KDKD Morning Show. A 9:30 a.m. ceremony included speakers Bob May, president of the Clinton Tourism Association; Mike Denehy with Off Track Events, coordinator of the Pedaler's Jamboree; Clinton Mayor Sam Gibbons; and State Representative Scott Largent.

National Main Street Conference
The National Main Street Conference was held in Oklahoma City, OK, May 2-5.  Two staff and two officers of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce attended the conference to learn more about preservation-based economic development and network with the 40-or-so other Missourians that attended.  They presented a summary report to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at their board meeting on May 21.

Revolving Loan Fund
Clinton Main Street, a program of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, has established a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) for downtown businesses.  Funding for the RLF is provided through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).
Businesses located in the 16-block Historic Square district will have priority in 2010.  After one year, any business in the community may apply and receive funds, as available, from the Main Street RLF.
Loans can be to existing businesses or for start-up businesses.  Loans can be used for building façade renovations, fixed assets, equipment purchases or any other need.  Loan recipients, particularly start-up businesses, may be required to successfully complete a preliminary business evaluation.
The Loan Review Committee is made up of four people, including two area bankers.  Disclosure of financial information will be viewed by the two bankers only and all information will be kept strictly confidential.
