I used to think that the Henry County Fair was only for 4-H kids. IT IS NOT! There is such a thing as the "open class" which means that non-4-H youth and adults can enter things into the Fair. Who Knew??!! There is even $$$ money for blue ribbons that are earned! What a fun thing to do with your mentee this summer.
Here is a few suggestions to get you started:
1) If you like to make food together.....
- Enter the "Cupcake Contest" on Sunday, July 15th at 3:30pm
- Enter the "Stuff on a Stick" contest on Wednesday, July 18th at 5pm
- Make a pie together and and get judged on Friday, July 20th at 5:30 pm
2) If you like Scavenger Hunts....
- Pick up a "Find me at the fair" card at the Wright Pavilion on July 15th after 5pm and spend the week trying to fill up your card with all the things you find.
- 3 winners will be selected from all cards that are turned in.
3) If you like to take pictures or make crafts together....
- Make a craft project and enter it into the "Open Class"
- Enter a Baked Good in "Open Class"
- Enter a photo in the "Open Class"
- All enteries for the "Open Class" are to be submitted on Tuesday, July 17th from 8:30 am- 11:00 am at the Fair grounds.
You and your Mentee can have a great time creating memories together as you make and enter a Fair Entry.
