Henry County Queen Contest!

 Enter the Henry County Fair Queen Contest at the Henry County Fair.

Contestant must be 16 years of age by August 9, 2012.

 

The Queen receives a $200 Savings Bond, Crown, Henry County Sash, and Represent Henry County at the 2012 Iowa State Fair.

Greetings!

Wow!  Who would have thought when we started Club M Wednesdays what a tremendous turnout we'd have.  Our partnership with the IWC Service Learning Dept. and Dr. Walljasper's Dev. Psych classes provided us with so many wonderful mentors, our partnership with Mt. Pleasant Community Schools allowed us to use their Middle School to have a set space and time for matches to meet. Thank you Mount Pleasant School District!

 

We are honored to receive the 2012 Community Partner of the Year Award by the Iowa Wesleyan College's Service Learning Department.

It is because of the student's committment to the Henry County Youth and Mt. Pleasant Community that we received this honor. Congratulations to all of our mentors and staff! 

School is Out for Summer!

The Mount Pleasant Pool is filled with water...

The Seniors are done with school...

Summer jobs are lined up....

And, Club M is finished until September.

 

Here is a list of fun summer activities to do with the children in your life:

  • Oakland Mills Nature Center - OPEN SAT/SUN 1-5 PM mid-April through mid-October
  • Guided Canoe Trips - Call Henry County Conseration at 986-5067 to take a 2 hour Canoe Trip

  • Aquatic Center in Mt Pleasant. Pool open from 1pm - 7pm Daily. 385-1475

2011-2012 Year in Review

The Henry County Mentoring Program had a tremendous year! Smiles and laughter spread through the County as our mentoring matches met.
 

Here are the results of the 141 mentoring relationship formed this year:

(as reported through match closure surveys)

 

  • 81% of mentees increased self-confidence
  •  85% of mentees increased their ability to express their feelings
  •  77% showed an improved decision making skill/process
  •  84% showed an increased interest in hobbies
  •  61% showed an improvement in their sense of their future
  •  90% of mentees showed an increased trust in their relationship with their mentor
  •  82% of mentees showed improvements in their relationship with peers
