Presented by Jennifer Lehman. Learn how to introduce the topic of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco prevention during your normal outings with your mentee.

Regular prices are $5 per person for a day pass - the Rec Center has special coupons that are $3 for 2 people for the day. You cannot beat $3.00 for use of the pool or gym!

All coupons are available at the IA State Extension Office and must be presented to receive your discount.

January is National Mentoring Month and is celebrated across our country each year. We acknowledge that mentoring can be both rewarding and challenging. Despite the challenges, our mentors continue to show up each month believing in our youth.

A big thank you to everyone who helps us mentor the children of Henry County. Together we positively impact the lives of young people and prepare them for a brighter tomorrow.

Celebrating National Mentoring Month

Iowa Mentoring Partnership "Day on the Hill" and Excellence in Mentoring Award ceremony

(January 28, 2010 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM)

Mentoring Day on the Hill will serve as the culminating event for National Mentoring Month 2010. Individuals in the mentoring field will gather at the Iowa State Capitol to educate legislators on both the challenges and positive benefits of mentoring children and youth, raise general public awareness and recognize and celebrate the efforts of current mentors in Iowa.

Mentor for a Day

Can you think of one person who would make a good mentor? Maybe they don't have enough time to make a year's commitment. We have just the thing for them!

February 27th we will hold our first Mentor For a Day event at the Mt. Pleasant Rec Center. We have over 20 children on our wait list who are waiting for more adult volunteers to step up and mentor them. From 11:00 am - 3:30 pm on Feb. 27th we will bring them a mentor for a day while they wait for a full time mentor.

The Henry County Mentoring Progam has rented the Rec Center and has games planned, lunch ready, the swimming pool available, and a game called Cucaracha for everyone to join in.

Help us bring a mentor to the life of a child...if only for the afternoon.
