Rod Shows: The Longest Running Indoor Car Shows in the World

Customs Then & Now

Featured at this year's Grand National Roadster Show will be a collection of the most historically significant custom cars in the world. Building 9 at the Fairplex in Pomona will be filled with over 70 different members of custom car royalty. It promises to be a room filled with the early "Westergard" customizing years of 1940's to chopped 60's show cars in their wild candy paint. Aesthetic detail and flowing body lines will please the eye as you stroll through the time-lined exhibit and feel the history of the cruisin' custom days.

This exhibit is sure to represent this car class with pride and will surely bring you back to the days when the era began. Though it won't take place on your high school's field or local stores "Grand Opening"  parking lot, we hope it brings you joy as you remember the adventure of embracing individualism with a unique custom.

Motor Trend Cover Car

Once you step into the building, you will be transported through a progression of the custom vehicle. Sleek and streamlined World War 2 era beauties could be found dotting the streets throughout Los Angeles as well as Sacramento.  Famous cruising spots, like Balboa on Easter Weekend, were the place to be and show off your chopped roofs, "fade away fenders," and Carson tops. Competition was the next level at shows like the L.A. Armory or the Pan Pacific, which brought even more creative thinking and ingenuity.

Crazy Orange

With the endless possibilities of channeling, chopping, decking, frenching, lowering, nosing or sectioning, modifying the vehicle beyond its "make and origin" became a priority. With the added beauty in the details and different interior, wheel covers, custom paint jobs and chrome pieces, the finished product would be breathtaking
