2010 Builder of the Year: Tim Lohrey
Tim Lohrey was born with hot
rods in his blood. Tim's father, the late Paul Lohrey, was a lifelong classic
car enthusiast and professional hot rod builder of national acclaim. Working at
his father's side, Tim began building his first hot rod at the age of 10,
winning him an award at the 1975 Sacramento Autorama. At 13, Tim built a 1931
Model A Coupe, showing it at the 1978 Sacramento Autorama.
Always a hot rod hobbyist,
Tim worked in a body shop from the age of 13 until after graduating high school
at 18, when he went to work for his dad in his hot rod shop. Tim has built
numerous cars over the years. His work has been featured in national
publications and won many prestigious awards.
Tim worked in the vehicle
maintenance department for Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, his wife's family
business, for many years and currently serves as the "Left Hand Side of the
Motor" and cylinder head maintenance for the Sacramento based Cheetah IV Top
Fuel Dragster Race Team. Tim lives with his wife, Christina, and three
daughters in Rio Linda, California.
Tim will be displaying five
new builds and two previous builds at this year's 60th Annual
Sacramento Autorama.
