 Dear Friends -
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of the Christ child I am reminded of that famous Christmas mantra, "It is better to give than to receive." Looking back on 2010 reminds me of how many people have sacrificially given of their time, talents, and finances to make our ministry a great success. I'm thankful for an incredible staff that has sacrificed time with family and friends and poured themselves into this ministry physically and emotionally to serve our wonderful students. I'm grateful for student leaders that have given of themselves to serve and disciple their peers. I'm humbled by the way our alumni, parents, donors, and friends give of their money to enable our ministry to continue serving the OU campu s. Without the 100s of individuals that have given to this great ministry, we wouldn't be able to celebrate the following successes of 2010:
- · Led an international mission trip to Costa Rica and have two upcoming mission trips to Rio Bravo, Mexico and Springfield, Missouri.
· Our students raised over $23,000 for the following missions and agencies: Strong Missions of Costa Rica, Manos Juntas of Mexico, Oklahoma Boys Ranch, American Cancer Society, Center for Children & Families, Living Water International and Skyline Urban Ministry · We reached out and connected with over 650 United Methodist youth through the Bedlam Bash (hosted by OU and OSU Wesley Foundations), Methodist Day at the OU basketball game and United Methodist camp visits · Between the staff, the praise band, the choir and myself we preached, led worship, shared personal testimonies, and told the story of campus ministry to over 30 different United Methodist Churches· Played an integral role in hosting OU's first ever Veritas Forum with renowned author and speaker, Os Guinness. This event drew over 350 OU students a nd faculty. · Staff and student leaders had over 450 one-on-one coffee and lunch appointments with students in crisis and in need of spiritual guidance and direction · Hosted over 20 different small groups and Bible studies· Had over 500 different students involved in either worship or small groups · Had over 200 different students involved in small groups · Welcomed over 200 new students and over 400 different students in Tuesday night worship It truly has been a blessed year and we certainly could not have done it without your support. I hope as you celebrate some of these wonderful accomplishments with us that you will consider making a year-end gift to our ministry. Every dollar that you donate enables us to makes disciples for Jesus Christ on the OU campus and train up a younger generation of leaders for God's Kingdom. Please help us finish 2010 strong and push us toward an even stronger 2011! On behalf of the entire staff and student body at the OU Wesley, THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
