The Wesley hosted a cookout on August 21 for incoming students. Many students joined us for a time of fellowship, and we built great relationships with lots of new students.

Dear Friends,
Now that school has finally started I want to share with you
the following:

Opening events reach 100s of new students

The students and staff did an
incredible job reaching out to the 4,000+ new students that moved on campus
over the past two weeks. We hosted our annual move-in day yard party on August
19 and passed out about 1,200 bottles of water and several hundred hotdogs
and cookies to well over 1,000 new students. We gave tours of the building and
began building new relationships.
The following day our discipleship
team did door to door visitation with homemade cookies (provided by local
churches) and welcomed and invited about 200 students that we had made contact
with over the previous few weeks. Later that evening we made contact with about
75 new students at the chamber of commerce fair between the dorms.
On August 21 we hosted our annual back to school cookout and
had a standing room only crowd in and outside of the building. Students began
to build relationships with one another and learn more about our ministry. Many
students stayed well into the night fellowshipping with one another well past
the end of the cookout at 8p.m. It was a wonderful few days of invitation,
evangelism, and relationship building that gave us a great foundation to start
the new school year!

First worship service of the year

We had an incredible first worship
service of the year this past Tuesday! God was definitely moving and touching
the lives of many students. We were overwhelmed with the number of new students
that joined us and we even ran out of chairs!
I preached from Jeremiah 18 and
challenged the students to consider, "What does God want to do with you while
you're at OU?" The band was full of energy and led us in some great worship, and
we celebrated Holy Communion to close out the service.

Small Groups Begin
Our men's and women's Bible studies
had their kick-off events this past Wednesday, and our freshmen group, FROSH,
started on Thursday.
We had a great turnout of students for each group and
enthusiasm is high for a great semester of building relationships and studying
the Word together. We also had a great level of interest from the students for all
of our other Bible studies and small groups, which will be starting over the
next 7-10 days.
Please pray for all of our student leaders and staff as we
strive to get as many students as possible plugged into small groups.

OU football cookout on September 11
OU plays Florida State at 2:30p.m. on
Saturday, September 11. Immediately following the end of the game
we will be hosting a free cookout at our building for alumni, donors, students,
football parkers and supporters of the ministry.
If you plan to attend the
football game, please plan to drop by our building for a burger and a dog and
some good fellowship. There is no agenda for this gathering other than to enjoy
some food and fellowship with fellow Sooners! No need to RSVP, just come!

Donate online

Our website is now equipped to
handle online donations! If you or someone you know might be interested in an
occasional one time gift, feel free to visit OKWelsey.org to make your donation.
We will be replacing our 60 year old main electrical amp later this week and
will be spending over $5,000 for parts and labor, so please consider making a
donation to this effort!
