Busy In MissionBusyInMission
Mission Work

Over the past three weeks our students have served on campus and in the metro area in several different capacities.

At the end of March we took a group to Skyline Urban Ministry to help serve a meal to the homeless population in OKC as well as help lead worship for their weekly worship service.

In early April we had a large contingent of students participate in Big Event. Big Event is a campus wide service project utilizing over 5,000 OU students to serve Norman and the greater OKC metro area.

We have also had numerous students out on campus on several different occasions over the past few weeks passing out treats, snacks, drinks, etc. to OU students. When asked why we are out there the students' response is: "We are the Wesley Foundation, and we simply wanted to show Christ's love in a tangible way."

The uniqueness of the various ways they have been in mission over the past few weeks has been a great combination of "showing Christ's love in a tangible way" as well as connecting those actions with words by sharing who Christ was and is and how he is making a difference in our lives.

Veritas Forum:
Finding God in Evil and Injustice
Veritas

We are very excited to be hosting our first ever Veritas Forum (veritas.org) with distinguished author and speaker, Dr. Os Guinness.

This free event will take place on Monday, April 26 on OU's campus at 8p.m. Os will be helping us (Wesley along with several other OU campus ministries) engage our students and faculty in an academic and theological discussion of "Finding God in evil & injustice."

This event is open to the public, so please feel free to attend.

Leading WorshipI have been busy traveling all over the state along with our praise band and choir helping to lead worship in local churches throughout the Oklahoma Annual Conference. We are currently beginning to book outings for summer and Fall 2010. If interested, contact daniel@okwesley.org for preaching or choir and taylor@okwesley.org for the praise band.

2010 Football ParkingFootballParking

If you are interested in getting your name on our football parking permit waiting list (and possibly getting a permit starting this Fall), please email your contact information to janey@okwesley.org. We have several spots opening up and we will be trimming down our current waiting list to fill those spots. There are no non-University parking spots any closer to the stadium than the Wesley parking lot. An annual football parking permit gives you access to our building, bathrooms, and kitchen on gamedays.

 1215 ClubClub1215

1215ClubLogoIt was almost one year ago that we began the 1215 club at the OU Wesley. Many of you have become faithful prayers and donors through this program and others have made one time donations for the entire year. These simple $15 a month donations are what sustain us and allow us to serve 100s of OU students every day. It is the 1215 club that continues to sustain us even while conference apportionments are only being paid at 75%.

If you were a onetime donor to the 1215 club, would you consider re-joining for the 2010-2011 school year? If you have not yet become a 1215 club member, would you prayerfully consider becoming a $15 a month donor and a regular prayer warrior for our ministry? It is your faithfulness and investments that will help us train and reach young people so that they might continue the ministry of the United Methodist Church for many years to come.

We would be honored to have you as a partner in ministry with us. You can print a 1215 commitment form at okwesley.org/1215-club.
