Staying connected to the local church
Before classes had even started many of our students were busy traveling to Tulsa to share their gifts in worship at Faith United Methodist Church on January 17. I had the opportunity to preach all 3 worship services, our praise band led music for the services, and several students spoke about how God is using campus ministry to transform lives.
Our praise band and or choir will be traveling a lot this semester to share their gifts with various United Methodist Churches and speak about the impact of campus ministry on their lives. A few places we will be leading worship at include: Blair UMC, Altus Grace UMC, Bartlesville East Cross UMC, Sunnylane UMC, St. Andrews UMC, Mcfarlin UMC, Bridgeview UMC, and Moore FUMC.
For information about booking the OU Wesley praise band or choir or preaching from either myself or students for Summer or Fall of 2010 contact daniel@okwesley.org

Students' response to Haiti
So far our students have raised over $700 for UMCOR to help with the United Methodist response in Haiti. In the month of February we are collecting supplies for medical kits and on February 27 will have a day of service to put together several 100 kits to send to Haiti!

Reaching new students through worship
This semester I am preaching from the book of Exodus. The students have been given the challenge to read from Exodus every day this semester during their quiet times. Our hope is that they will have read it multiple times and know it forwards and backwards.
So far they have learned that God always fulfills his covenant and promise, God uses those whom we least expect to bring about his goodness and glory, God expects us to be in the business of justice and mercy, and God calls all of us regardless of our shortcomings.
The students have been doing a great job of inviting new students to worship and through three weeks we have already had 20 new students worship with us! |
Keeping Students Connected Through Small Groups
All of our Bible studies and small groups have begun and between the staff and the student leaders we are leading 17 different groups that meet on six different days of the week and are reaching upwards of 200 different students through these groups.
Our desire through small groups is to provide a place for students to build relationships with one another and grow in their personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
