Dear Friends,
One of the priorities of our ministry has always been small groups. Our biggest weekly gathering is Tuesday night worship and we are grateful for the opportunity to have over 100 students gather every week to hear God's word, to sing praise to God, and to celebrate Holy Communion.
However we believe it is through small groups that students will really begin to grow in their faith and connect to others through fellowship, accountability, Bible study, and encouragement. This semester we have about 150 different students plugged into a discipleship building group and over 200 students plugged into at least one small group.
I would like to give you a very brief overview of just a few of these wonderful groups:
1. Cell Groups 2. Confronting the Controversies 3. English Conversation Class 4. FROSH 5. Women of Wesley & Into the Wild 6. Chinese Bible Study 7. Gameday Crew

Cell Groups
Cell groups meet on Thursday evenings and are completely student led. Some of our groups are studying books of the Bible while others are doing topical studies.
In addition to Bible study these groups spend time each week in personal accountability, prayer, and fellowship, much like the early Class Meetings of John Wesley.

Confronting the Controversies
Every Wednesday evening I lead a Bible study for students that focuses on a different social controversy each week. Some of the topics we have tackled this semester include abortion, separation of church and state, death penalty, and homosexuality.
We look at a new topic each week and look at both sides of the issue. Then we look to the scriptures to see how God speaks to each one of these topics. The goal is to give students a stronger theological understanding of pressing issues that our society struggles with.

English Conversation Class
Every Tuesday night before worship we provide an English class to the international students at OU so that they might be better prepared to study at the University.
Many of our American students help with this class led by Rev. Fuxia Wang.
This is a wonderful way to serve our international students and help get them connected to our ministry. |
Frosh
Every Thursday many of our freshmen gather for Bible study and fellowship. This is like an introductory group to the ministry of the Wesley Foundation and many of our future leaders will come out of this Bible study.
This group is led by full time staff member, Taylor Clark, and two active upperclassmen, Jeff Hinton and Becca Lupton.

Women of Wesley & Into the Wild
These two groups are our men's and women's Bible studies led by our associate director Janey Wilson and our ministry assistant, Taylor Clark.
This semester they have been taking a closer look at the sermons I have been preaching at Vespers and digging deeper on each topic through discussion and study of the scriptures. It has been refreshing to see our students wrestle with very serious topics such as sex, alcohol abuse, finances, personal faith, loneliness, etc. |
Gameday Crew
While we believe groups that focus on Bible study and accountability are most important, we also believe having fun and fellowship is extremely important.
Gameday crew is one of several small groups whose sole purpose is to provide fun and fellowship for the students.
This group meets 3 hours before every home football game to get painted up and into their Sooner gear! They wait in line for an hour and then in the stands for two more hours so they can get the best seats in the student section.

Chinese Bible Study
Every Friday night our building smells of wonderful Chinese food. Fuxia always prepares a home cooked meal for her students and they spend several hours in Bible study, praise and worship, food and fellowship, and games.
Ninety-five percent of the students in this study have never heard the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, so it is a wonderful opportunity to witness and share Christ's love to those that have never heard it.
