HOLIDAY GREETINGS!

At ZOË Alliance we are filled with gratitude for your support in 2010.  Thank you for choosing to support the work and livelihoods of our partners around the globe through your purchases, advocacy, and support.

It was a very exciting year with the expansion of our efforts in existing partners in Haiti, India and Guatemala and with the wonderful new addition of a partnership right here in Ottawa providing employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.
Together we are now helping 4 great leaders in their efforts to enhance the living conditions and opportunity for over 80 individuals and their families.

In this season of celebration and gratitude we often pause to take the time to value and honor the people who are important in our lives.  The ZOË Alliance team around the world would like you to know just how grateful we are for all that you have done to Empower People for Life in 2010.  Your part in this work may seem small to you, however it is very significant to 80 people who will not forget your decision to make a very tangible difference in their lives.
Angie Draskovic
We all wish you a peaceful, fun and meaningful holiday season and look forward to the next chapter in our journey together in 2011.

Announcing our New Partnership in Ottawa!

Every day at ZOË seems to bring exciting new developments!  This issue we have the privilege of introducing all of you to Grow.  Grow is a social enterprise in Ottawa, Canada that provides training and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.

Two of their projects include wood and pottery shops, and we are delighted that the teams working in these areas have agreed to team up with ZOË to produce our newest product line - Equitas

The Equitas product line consists of two fantastic new speakers or general gifts.  A very high quality hand made pottery coaster set, and an exquisite business card holder for the desk make with genuine jade accents.

Both items involve skill and care in their production that the team at Grow is more than capable of demonstrating.  We are proud to be working in partnership with Grow and feel the Latin word Equitas, which means justice and from which our English work equality is derived, is the perfect way to capture the spirit behind this great enterprise.

The idea for the name came from an early conversation with Micah Elson who oversees the work at Grow.  In speaking about the team he said:  "Equality is a huge piece of what we are doing here - providing access to jobs that they would normally only dream of. There is nothing that I can do that they can't do. Even though it may take them longer to learn it, there is nothing I have come across that they can't do given enough time and the right training."

Our commitment at ZOË Alliance is to continue to extend opportunities to individuals and communities who are marginalized that allow them to fully exercise their abilities and to provide for themselves and their families.

This new project with Grow is especially fun because it allows us to extend highly skilled and meaningful work opportunities to an exceptionally gifted group of people right here at home.

Ideas for Conferences for the New Year

CONFERENCE PRODUCTS
Even in the midst of the holiday season, many of us are already planning events for the New Year.

ZOË Alliance has several great conference items to choose from including conference pens, conference bags, attendee, and speakers' gifts that are receiving rave reviews from our association and large corporate clients.

Did you know that while you are handling the larger details of speakers, program, and venue over the next couple of months, your order for routine gifts could be helping 20 - 30 people in a village provide for their families while they prepare your pens, conference bags, or speakers gifts?

Contact us for a custom quotation and let us help you tick one more thing off your list early as you prepare for your next big event.

Take the ZOË Challenge

The ZOË Challenge invites corporations and individuals to join us in harnessing 10% of what we plan to spend on gifts, donations and promotional items to generate $89 billion dollars in job creating sustainable aid.

As we head into the holiday season and plan for next years conferences, why not take a moment to think about the impact that your routine gifts could have on the lives of people like Wilma, Darl, Darshini, and Helene.

If you plan to buy some gifts personally, it's not too late to find one that is produced in accordance with fair trade principles.

If you still need some last minute executive client gifts for the holidays or are planning a big conference in the New Year, we would encourage you to look at how you might source an especially memorable gift or promotional item.

If you like the idea but don't know where to start, give us a call at 647-477-4377, or drop a line at info@zoealliance.com

Who is ZOË Alliance?

ZOË Alliance Inc. is a social enterprise that harnesses what we spend to help developing nations break the cycle of poverty.

ZOË Alliance helps people and companies transform impoverished villages with their regular purchases.  We stretch each dollar spent on a personal or corporate gift three ways:  to purchase a gift that tells the story of hope; to create jobs with dignity in villages; and to donate funds toward a school or village project.

We also help companies link their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to the bottom line by making it easy to source high quality, profitable products from producer groups in villages around the globe.
