Art, Music, Roller Derby and Father's Day - never a dull moment in Richmond. Get out of the office and enjoy your city!
Some of you are aware that our editor (me) had an accident over Memorial Day weekend. I'm house bound until the end of August, and still working away on behalf of Richmond, albeit from home. Please continue to post your events on the Community Calendar and send them to me...
If you have an upcoming event, please send the details to my email to be included in the next edition.
Michelle
If your event isn't listed here, we probably aren't aware of it. Either send us your information by Monday morning to be included in the weekly edition or enter your event on the Community Calendar.

Confessions of a Nazi Spy
(from Wikipedia)
Confessions of a Nazi Spy is a 1939 American spy thriller film and the first blatantly anti-Nazi film produced by a major Hollywood studio prior to World War II.
The film stars Edward G. Robinson, Francis Lederer, George Sanders, and a large cast of German actors, including some who had emigrated from their country after the rise of Adolf Hitler.
Though the film can be seen as propaganda, it was based on the articles of former FBI agent Leon G. Turrou, who had been active in investigating Nazi spy rings in the United States prior to the war, and lost his position at the Bureau when he published the articles without permission.

Forgotten Fragments: Art Made from Overlooked Materials
| |
NIAD
551 23rd Street
Artist's Reception Saturday, June 16th
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Ink, paint and clay are conventional art materials. They're easy to acquire and put into immediate action with the right tools. Torn paper bags, outdated newspapers and scraps of bamboo require a bit more forethought, especially when creating sculpture. NIAD artists have been recycling these types of materials into artwork for several months while working with instructor Ruben Guzman, who encouraged them to simply play with materials until something interesting happened. Forgotten Fragments will feature the results of their experimentation in show of abstract and figurative sculpture.
