For the Love of Clay

Come meet the artist and browse her unique handcrafted jewelry, vessels and clay forms. Each is made to evoke a feeling, a sense of the spirit made visible.

Virginia's current sculpture continues to utilize the initial energy and subtle movement of extruded forms. Guardians and sentinels have been a reoccurring theme since the 1980s when she was at a time in her life when she needed a protective guardian spirit. Recent work has become more representational. She says, "Clay is a transformative process. I feel a co-creator present with me as I create these forms. They come intuitively and from some deep universal space within."

More information

Built in 1940, the USS IOWA served our country for over 50 years. Designated the "World's Greatest Naval Ship" due to her big guns, heavy armor, fast speed, longevity and modernization, she kept pace with technology for more than 50 years.

The USS Iowa is currently unable to accommodate visitors on board that are unable to walk unassisted. However, there are plenty of shore side exhibits that can be viewed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Adults need to be aware of steep brow, brow step at top, steel protrusions and deck unevenness and take the proper steps to keep children aware at all times.
