The second movie in the Spring Series is a British/Canadian war propaganda drama, "49th Parallel," filmed in 1941 and released in the UK in late 1941 and in the U.S. in March /April 1942. It follows the adventures of the small remnant of a Nazi U-boat crew whose boat is sunk in Hudson Bay by a Canadian Air Defense plane. They struggle to return to Germany by traveling east to west across Canada, slowly being winnowed, until the sole survivor reverses course to enter the neutral U.S. at Niagara. The movie was intended to fire patriotic fervor in the U.S. and inspire us to abandon our neutrality. Among a cast of hundreds, you'll see Leslie Howard, Raymond Massey, a very young Glynnis Johns, and a barely recognizable Laurence Olivier as a Canadian trapper. For a long time, the movie was the most popular British movie seen in the U.S.

Bill and Kate Isles are two of the best-known singer/songwriters in the Midwestern acoustic scene and have received national and international attention with comparisons to heartland songwriters like Willie Nelson and Woody Guthrie. The duo have a great gift for metaphor and melody, served up with a thin slice of Midwestern ham.

Special guests, The Henriettas are Nell Robinson and Cary Sheldon. They have been featured stages and festivals across the country, including A Prairie Home Companion. Their inspirations are the Cackle Sisters, the first women to become stars on both the National Barn Dance and the Grand Ole Opry. Nell and Cary bring close harmonies, yodeling and cackling to recreate a juicy slice of 1930s Americana.

In I AM, successful director Shadyac steps in front of the camera to recount what happened to him after a cycling accident left him incapacitated, possibly for good. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged with a new sense of purpose, determined to share his own awakening to his prior life of excess and greed, and to investigate how he as an individual, and we as a race, could improve the way we live and walk in the world.

Armed with nothing but his innate curiosity and a small crew to film his adventures, Shadyac set out on a twenty-first century quest for enlightenment. Meeting with a variety of thinkers and doers-remarkable men and women from the worlds of science, philosophy, academia, and faith-including such luminaries as David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson, John Francis, Coleman Barks, and Marc Ian Barasch - Shadyac appears on-screen as character, commentator, guide, and even, at times, guinea pig. An irrepressible "Everyman" who asks tough questions, but offers no easy answers, he takes the audience to places it has never been before, and presents even familiar phenomena in completely new and different ways. The result is a fresh, energetic, and life-affirming film that challenges our preconceptions about human behavior while simultaneously celebrating the indomitable human spirit.
