West Contra Costa Emergency Preparedness Fair Ready, Set, Prepare!
| |
Del Norte BART Station
6400 Cutting Blvd
Saturday, September 24th
10:00 am. - 2:00 pm
"Ready, Set, PREPARE!" Now is the time to look around your home, your workplace, your neighborhood and try to envision the chances of you and your loved ones surviving the next big earthquake - or any disaster that may hit. Take a moment to reflect on what you were doing on October 17, 1989 at 5:04 pm when the Loma Prieta, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake, rocked the San Francisco Bay Area. The epicenter was more than 60 miles away. We felt its tremendous force taking down the Cypress Freeway right here in the Bay Area! Our homes and workplaces shook violently, freeways and all modes of transportation were at a standstill, and people were stranded on the other side of the bay, not able to get home to children and loved ones for many hours. Are you prepared for the next disaster that can impact you and your family? The Northern Hayward Fault line runs right through our West County cities and is overdue for an earthquake. That quake will be felt by West County communities with a much greater impact on lives, properties and our environment. West County cities and more than 62 agencies have joined forces to bring you the emergency information to help you increase your chances for survival in any type of emergency (earthquake, hazardous materials, etc.). Your chances of survival depend on the preparedness levels that you, your family and your neighborhood take now! Planning is the key to survival! This four hour emergency preparedness fair is a chance for our residents to come out, meet with emergency response agencies and businesses, experience fire and earthquake simulation, learn CPR, dispose of unused and expired medications, bring your pets for vaccinations and micro-chipping, and stay for the fun and free raffles! For more information, please contact; Terrance Cheung, Supervisor John Gioia's Office at Terrance.Cheung@bos.cccounty.us, Kathryn Gerk, Richmond Fire OES at Kathy_gerk@ci.richmond.ca.us or Sandi Genser-Maack at esandi@comcast.net

Who is Irma Vep? That's the mystery at the heart of this outrageously funny tour-de-force. On a "dark and stormy night," Lady Enid arrives at an estate with her new husband, who is under the spell of his deceased first wife and haunted by something that's prowling the grounds. Strange things begin to happen around her and she soon discovers the mystery of Irma Vep, whose portrait hangs over the fireplace. A hilarious comedy that satirizes everything from Hitchcock and Victorian Melodrama to the great horror films of the golden age...

Gang of Four + 1 at NIAD
|
NIAD
553 23rd Street

Gang of Four +1 features two distinct exhibitions, a group show of NIAD artists featured in Create at BAM/PFA, and we're inaugurating our new Project Wall.
Work by Jeremy Burleson, Willie Harris, Marlon Mullen and Attilio Crescenti will be on display in the main gallery. Each artist has a small body of work in the Create exhibition, but we thought you should see more of their creative output.
In addition to the group show we're very happy to inaugurate our new Project Wall exhibition space, which is adjacent to the gallery.
