Important Message from Our Law Enforcement Friends
| |
This is new and just for clarification:
NOW WITHIN WEST CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEN YOU CALL 911 FROM YOUR MOBILE PHONE AND AGAIN, ONLY IF YOU ARE WITHIN WEST CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, YOUR CALL IS NOW IMMEDIATELY DIRECTED TO THE LOCAL POLICE OR SHERIFF DISPATCH CENTER.
Important: If your mobile phone is equipped with G.P.S., your call to 9-1-1 is much more accurate and it will connect with the local law enforcement agency from where you are calling.
If your phone is not equipped with the G.P.S. technology, then your call is directed to the nearest cell tower which may or may not be accurate as far as connecting you with that local law enforcement agency. Local is based on your actual physical location at the time of your call within west Contra Costa County.

Annual Turkey Shoot! (No animals are harmed)
| Richmond Plunge 1 East Richmond Ave Thursday, November 25th 10:30 am
Meet in front of the Plunge - Bring noise makers including animals and kids!
The arrival of Thanksgiving means it's time for the annual Turkey Shoot in Point Richmond. The morning procession will meet at the Richmond Plunge at 10:30 a.m. for a trip through the business district to the front of The Spot, a local watering hole where celebrants will listen to the ceremonial reading of the Turkey Shoot poem. Monroe Benschop has the honor of reading the poem, which gets an additional verse each year. The celebration concludes with the "Gobble, gobble, gobble" cry and a toast consisting of a shot of Wild Turkey. Organizers advise those who join the parade to bring a musical instrument or other noisemaker.

In this musical comedy, six young people in the throes of puberty learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. It is the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
NOTE: Before every performance, four audience volunteers are recruited to participate on stage as guest spellers. Each new foursome guarantees a new set of hilarious and unexpected experiences - each night is unique!
