Greetings!
We hope this message finds you all well as we welcome November and the beginning of a very busy season. Can you believe the Fall we've been having? It has been just spectacular and hopefully you have been able to get out and enjoy it. Sadly, it will be coming to an end much too soon!
With this great weather, we have also had a wonderfully active couple of months in LGAN with many fun activities and events for both the kids and the adults! We are so excited about all the planning and hard work the committee members have put in. It has set the stage for a great start to our year. As co-presidents, we have been so fortunate to be able to attend so many of these LGAN events the past couple of months. We have been thrilled with the turnout, especially at our New Member events. Even if you are a "neighbor", these events are for you too! They are a great way to reach out and make a new friend or bring someone new along with you!
There has also been an increased interest in our website and requests for postings under our Community Events page. Make sure to check this often, as there is great information there about things happening in our backyard. This is such a good example of how your involvement directly affects our community, in ways both large and small. We are seeing more and more familiar faces around the neighborhoods, at school events, the market, the library and at other various Western Suburb locations and happenings. This is what we are about--community, and making these connections!
Looking forward to seeing many of you this month!

Many families in our area are facing tough times this holiday season, maybe even your friends and neighbors. In partnership with Community Nurse Health Association, we have four great ways to spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate this year. Please consider supporting any or all of these efforts:
- Donate toys for toddlers. We need new, unwrapped toys for ages 0-3 years, especially Fisher Price Little People sets or other developmental toys with lights and sounds.
- Donate a pack of "onesies". We're looking for new, unwrapped onesies in sizes 12 months, 18 months and 24 months.
- Help us adopt a child. We're adopting two children on behalf of LGAN this year, and will be collecting cash donations and wish list items. Contact Melissa Capizzi at mjustice4@hotmail.com to be assigned a specific item, which could include clothing, underwear, socks, school supplies, a toy, a book, etc. Donation amount or number of items donated is at your discretion. Items should be new and unwrapped.
- Consider adopting a child of your own. If your family is interested in adopting a child, contact JoAnn Williams of CNHA at joawilliams@sbcglobal.net by October 31. The cost is approximately $250 per child.
Can't join us for the evening event?
Drop off your donation at 316 N. Spring anytime between
November 5th -16th.
Cash donations are being accepted at all upcoming LGAN events. Look for the jar marked "Secret Santa"!

Partnering with Community Nurse Health Association
If you're looking for a great way to fill a few extra hours in your week, consider volunteering for Community Nurse Health Association, our chosen charity for this year. Community Nurse runs two re-sale shops in downtown La Grange, and could always use volunteers. Visit www.communitynurse.org to find out more.
If you have more stuff than time, consider donating your items for re-sale or consignment. The Carousel Shop on Calendar Avenue accepts gently-used clothing (children or adult), toys, books, jewelry, shoes and household items. You can drop off these items at the alley between Calendar and Burlington - look for the red door. All donations are tax-deductible. The consignment shop next door to Carousel accepts furniture and other items, with a 50-50 split.
