Governor's Energy Office

County Economic Development Self-Assessment Survey

The Governor has requested that each county develop or update its economic development plan based on current input from local citizens, businesses and other interested parties.  By May 15th, the objective is to have the county plans rolled up into 14 regional plans, which collectively will roll up into a statewide economic development plan. Energy News You Can Use

Greetings!

We're making many changes for the better at 4CORE, including tweaks to our logo, mission, vision, and the look of our e-newsletter.

Highlights from last month include attending the Four States Ag Expo in Cortez, hosting two Sustainable Building Education Program sessions- one in Durango and one in Pagosa Springs, holding a tour of a sustainably built gambrel barn home in Dolores, and hosting our Cortez Office Open House. See the media gallery below for more about these events!

4CORE Evolving

Logo Changes, Mission Makeover, and Vision Revisions

4CORE is making changes as part of the adapting role we are playing in our region.

4CORE's revised mission is short and to the point:

To advance resource efficiency

Our vision has also evolved to:

4CORE, Southwest Colorado's resource hub, inspires communities to become resilient*

*Resilient- ability to adapt in order to buffer against future risk and adjust to change.

Our new logo reflects our role as a "hub" for resource efficiency information and connections between coalition partners and organizations that provide resource efficiency and renewable energy services/information.

All of these changes can be seen in our revised strategic place mat.

See our Annual Report for 2010 for a synopsis of where we've been, and where we are going in 2011.

Recharge Colorado Appliances

Currently closed and not accepting new reservations

At this point, all funds have either been reserved or used to pay out qualifying rebate applications. This includes refrigerators, clothes washers, dishwashers, gas storage water heaters, and gas boilers.

The GEO is currently assessing the program to see if expired reservations have freed up enough funds to reload funding back into the program and begin accepting applications again.

The GEO encourages you to check for any updates at  Recharge Colorado or contact the Recharge Colorado Call Center for updates at 1-800-462-0184.

Earth Week Offsets Campaign

Offset energy use April 18-24

Reinvest in Colorado this Earth Day by supporting new clean energy projects in Colorado

The Colorado Carbon Fund's (CCF) Earth Week Campaign asks individuals and businesses to voluntarily offset part or all of their emissions for the week of Earth Day (April 18-24). For every dollar received, a dollar will be spent on building clean energy projects in Colorado that enhance community, create jobs, reduce emissions, and bring Colorado's clean energy future that much closer to reality.

Click here to reinvest in Colorado today with your tax-deductible donation. For an average Coloradoan, it costs $10 to offset emissions for the week (including the emissions resulting from your food). If you are a business and would like to participate, there are also solutions for you. Call (303) 866-2264 or email to learn more

REAP Update
Next steps

Last month, 4CORE finalized a version of a strategy, which is now available online. This strategy will be used to create an action plan that will poise our region for funding and implementation of the projects outlined in the strategy.

In addition to the creation of this document, Southwest Colorado Council of Governments (COG) voted unanimously to identify 4CORE as the region's sustainability council.
