This class is designed to be an interactive community action workshop that will implement solution processes within the class itself. Students will have a two-week break after the first class to think about solutions for the issues raised in that class. The next 3 classes will include a joint effort to discuss and implement solutions

This fall 4CORE is focusing on weatherization and insulation efforts. We've got a new program for qualified households to help you get your utility bills down and decrease your energy use.

We've hired new staff to administer this program:

Weatherization Assistance
Does your house need "tightening up"?

Governor's Energy OfficeThe Governor's Energy Office will be distributing funds for weatherizing low-income households in Southwest CO.

There is no cost to the homeowner for the weatherization audit and installing the measures recommended by the auditor. Measures may include insulation, upgrading appliances, or air sealing.

To find out if you are eligible, go to our pre-qualification questionnaire. If you qualify, you will be linked to the application that you may download, fill out, and submit. Please contact us for more information. All eligible households must meet income criteria:

Priority is given in the following order:

  1. Elderly
  2. Disabled
  3. Highest need based on condition of house, residents, and income
You do not have to own your home to qualify, but must have the owners written permission.

This Saturday, October 3rd
Cost: $5 per map/bike tour ticket
Where to buy maps: Durango Farmer's Market October 3rd.

The Sustainability Alliance for Southwest Colorado (SASCO) Outreach Committee is presenting this program to explore the importance of solar power and renewable energy as part of a sustainable lifestyle. The event will feature a panel of solar installers as well as renewable energy supporters.  Panelists will include:
  • Aileen Tracy, 4CORE: Step up Sensibly
  • John Shaw: solar thermal and PV
  • John Lyle: off-grid solar energy storage
  • Gregg Dubit, 4CORE: Energy Audits
  • Home Builders Association of Southwest CO
  • Potential panelists also include LPEA, a geothermal installer, and a wind expert.
