Health tip from
El Dorado TrueCare Pharmacy |
Prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning . . . Carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless gas, is the most common cause of poisoning in the U.S. It is produced by stoves, heating systems, and gasoline engines. Without proper ventilation, CO can build up in enclosed areas. To help prevent CO poisoning, install CO alarms near bedrooms. Get your heating system and fuel-burning appliances checked yearly. Avoid using non-vented combustion appliances. Never warm up your car in an attached garage, even with the door open; concentrated fumes can enter the house through doors and windows.

As we get into this new year and new decade, I want to let you know what El Dorado Main Street plans on doing in the next 12 months. While there are over 25 workplans/goals for the many committees within El Dorado Main Street for 2010; the following should give you a good idea of what we will be spending much of our time and resources on.
- To continue to support, promote, and benefit Downtown El Dorado through the Main Street Four-Point Approach: Organization, Economic Restructuring, Promotions, and Design
- Continue the El Dorado Main Street façade grants which assist building owners improve the exterior of their buildings.
- Provide financial assistance to downtown businesses through Kansas Main Street's Incentives Without Walls 0% interest loans.
- To successfully host the 4th Annual Frontier Western Celebration. The 2010 dates are August 20-22nd.
- To promote and organize two Art on the Town events to draw art lovers into the downtown.
- To continue the relationship with the City of El Dorado to pursue the HOPE VI Main Street Grant. This project will expand and improve upper story housing in the downtown.
- To further plan and prepare for a permanent Farmer's Market to be located in the Downtown District.
- Hold the 8th Annual en plein air Festival which brings art lovers into the Downtown District.
- Fill the last sculpture base with a piece of art (200 block N Main). This will complete this ten year project.

Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart at The Iron Horse Concert Hall Concert - Live Music 7:30 pm - Circle Gallery and Frame Shop Location: 315 S. Main St., 316-321-2105
Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart: Few husband-wife musical duos provide audiences with the complete entertainment package that Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart dish out in a live performance. Armed with clever acoustic guitar interplay, autobiographical songwriting, lovely harmonies, and humorous storytelling this couple captivates your attention from the first moment they are onstage. Based out of Tennessee, Earle and Stuart draw from blues, pop, country, rock, and more in their heartfelt music. The years of touring the folk/Americana circuit (playing 170 concerts a year) have given them a knack for reaching out to the audience in an intimate "come in to my living room" fashion.
