New Businesses Opened in Downtown El Dorado
Recently, two new businesses have opened in the building referred to as District 142.
  • Nu-Way Express is now serving "crumbly burgers" through Scooters Coffee House.  Stop by and check it out!  I had my first Nu-Way burger the other day, it was great!!

  • Security First Title also opened in December.  Stop by and see what Trisha Powell has done with this great space and welcome her into the downtown!
Greetings!

As the El Dorado Main Street Organization looks forward to 2010, I want to share with you what was accomplished in 2009.  There are many successes that the Board of Directors, volunteers, and downtown district should be proud of.  Without supporters like you, El Dorado Main Street would not be able to celebrate these accomplishments.

  • Over 4000 volunteer hours in 2009.
  • Assisted in and promoted over $300,000 in building rehabilitation and/or new construction in the downtown district in 2009.
  • Reached $161,570.23 in Incentive Without Walls loans to local businesses since El Dorado Main Street designation.  These loans assisted in the completion of $1,058,671.82 in overall  project amounts and improvements in the district since 1999.
  • Reached $67,150.35 in Façade Grants to local businesses.  This resulted in $394,827.79 in completed improvements to building facades since 1999.
  • Hosted the 3rd Annual Frontier Western Celebration which brought about 3000 people into the downtown area for a 3 day weekend.
  • Organized the 2nd Annual Art on the Town and the 7th Annual en plein air Art Festival which brought art lovers into the El Dorado Main Street District.
  • The Economic Restructuring Committee began long term goals and plans for a permanent Farmer's Market to be located in the downtown.
  • El Dorado Main Street formed yet another partnership with the City of El Dorado to apply for a HUD grant for upper story housing in the downtown district.
  • The Promotions Committee donated $1,300 to the City of El Dorado's Holiday Visions Committee for the purchase of 50 garland pole wraps for the 2010 holidays.
  • The Design Committee was trained and began using software which will assist building owners in visualizing changes to their buildings for façade improvements.
  • At the 2009 Kansas Main Street Symposium, El Dorado Main Street received three awards including: Excellence in Fundraising, Excellence in Marketing, and the Community Award for our relationship with Frontier Refinery.

El Dorado Main Street is dedicated to the continual improvement and success of Downtown El Dorado.  As we enter our eleventh year, the many volunteers and committees have great plans for a successful 2010. If you have any questions, please call me at 321-3088 or visit the El Dorado Main Street office at 430 N Main Street.

@Ease Massage and Bodyworks
Great Relationships and Excellent Service!

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit with one of our great downtown business owners.  Jody, from At Ease Massage and Body Works, invited me to talk with her about the new 360ElDorado.com website.  When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Callie, one of the employees.  I was told that Jody was finishing up with a client and would be out soon.  A few minutes later when Jody and the woman walked out into the lobby,  the client thanked Jody and said, "I don't know what I would do without you!"  From the conversation they had,  I was able to see that this was a regular customer of Jody's and she has formed a great relationship with her.  This is the type of customer service that Jody and her staff are known for.  By focusing on the basics, Jody told me that she wants to provide excellent service and to make people feel good.  In the short amount of time that I was in her business, I witnessed the interaction between the staff and their clients. I am confident that making people feel good is exactly what happens inside At Ease Massage and Body Works.
Make it a New Year's resolution to take some time for yourself and enjoy a massage from Jody!
