Guest Preacher The Very Rev. W. Nicholas Knisely

The Very Rev. W. Nicholas KniselyThe Very Rev. W. Nicholas Knisely, Dean of Trinity Cathedral, Phoenix, will be our guest preacher at the morning services on Sunday, January 15, while our Rector preaches at Trinity Cathedral. He will also lead a forum at 10:15 a.m. entitled "Star of Wonder, Star of Night." He will speak about the significance of the Magi whose search for Messiah was motivated by their observations of the heavens and reflect on his own experience as an astronomer and a priest and how he has always imagined the Magi to be the patrons of who seek God in nature.

Nicholas Knisely was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1991 and was installed as Dean of Trinity Cathedral on November 12, 2006. Over the past twenty years he has served congregations in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Nicholas holds degrees in Physics and Astronomy from Franklin and Marshall College and The University of Delaware, as well as degrees in Theology from Yale/Berkeley Divinity School. Nicholas has been active in a variety of ministries during his career, with an emphasis on outreach and local and international mission work, as well as a particular focus of late on communications technology and its effect on parish ministry. He maintains a personal blog called "Entangled States" and is involved on the editorial board of Episcopal Cafe and Covenant Communion. He is working on a book that attempts to think through the most useful methodology for scientists to use when engaging theologians and vice versa.

Nicholas has been married for over 29 years. He and his wife have a daughter studying Physics of whom they are justly proud. He is an occasional golfer, regular hiker, and avid reader.
