Quote of the day |
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.

If I Only Had ONE Chance
to Tell You... (is there a story that is yours to tell?)
|
I am so excited about my new book project. It is going to be a compilation book. A WHAT??!
Well, here's the rest of the title:
"Encouraging and Inspiring Real-Life Stories (For people like you, by people like you.)"
After I wrote Tools of Hope, I have had dozens and dozens of people tell me that they
"always wanted to write a book."
I have had people after my workshops tell me incredible stories of hope and resilience and survival. Stories of transformation and change.
Put your story on paper. Build a part of your legacy. Here's your chance.
I am taking submissions from at least 30 people.
Click here to view If I Only Had ONE Chance details in PDF version!
If your submission is accepted, you will be a published author by the end of this year! AND, more importantly, you will allow others to learn from, be inspired by, and be lifted up by your story.
If you want in, just let me know. Submissions due by May 31, 2010. Yes, this year. :)

Before you just flat out ignore this, think on it for a bit. Let it settle on your heart. Is there a story that is yours to tell?

TOOL of the Day: do SOMETHING different
|
It was the single ugliest plant I'd ever seen.
What I couldn't figure, is what it was doing on my mom's kitchen table. I mean, really.
It had these gosh-awful, alien-looking roots poking up everywhere but where they were supposed to be (in the plant pot, for instance), and it had these gargantuan, thick leaves. And it just sat there, squatting with its finger-like roots reaching out.
That was my first up-close experience with an orchid plant. Now they don't all look like that - mostly just the Phalaenopsis. And, as my mom explained, they have these amazing, long-lasting blooms. And, IF YOU PURCHASE THE RIGHT ONES FOR YOUR CLIMATE AND LIGHT CONDITIONS, they don't require a lot of care.

I grew to fall in love with these plants mainly because they didn't just up and die when I forgot to water them. I took steps to learn about them. I found a free class in a town nearby. I asked my always-finds-great-deals-at-garage-sales dad to watch for a fish tank for me that I could use as a growing place for my new-found plants. I got a couple books. And I got some orchids. The ones that grow well in Colorado, with
relatively lower light conditions, and do ok without special lights,
carefully regulated temperature and humidity. I like them, yes, and as I
already mentioned, I'm not a good plant scientist. I know my
limits.
They are simply an amazing plant. Their roots are typically thick and wax-like. When water hits the root, it will turn from gray to green. When it's green, the cells are opening up to accept and drink in the water. As it dries out, it gets gray and shuts down so as not to lose the humidity! I now have over 25 plants in a huge glass tank in my front window. Drive by, and you'll see them.
Now, the question is - what does this have to do with anything?

Well, 2 things, actually.
1) Sometimes, I have felt like the orchid. Kind of like the ugly duckling. Sitting and sitting for months, and sometimes years, before blooming. Reaching out awkwardly for nutrients and water. You see, many of them do not grow in soil in nature. They grow roots up, flowers down, hanging off of trees in the rain forest. They thrive off of the humidity in the air. We put them in pots for convenience, and we've actually just made them grow upside down.
I feel like I did that for a lot of years. I was stuck, personally, and professionally, and now, after I took steps to make changes, I'm growing "right side up" and blooming!!
2) It takes time. I started with my orchids over 4 years ago. This year, I was treated to over 1/3 of my plants blooming at the same time. My dad came and took photos so that I could share them with you (make sure you "right-click to download pictures" and enjoy!)

Whatever dream you have in your heart... That one thing you've always wanted to try... Take some baby steps toward it. Learn about it. Grow it. Water it. Practice. Give it some time.
(If it really doesn't work, or simply isn't what you thought it would be, try something else!)
Then, enjoy the "blooms" of doing SOMETHING different!

Build the life you REALLY want.

Tools of Hope Workshops
Our team was so impressed with your professionalism and method of delivery. In fact, your insightful real life stories turned out to be the highlight of the training. You were able to speak to our team in a language familiar to them and to provide them with the tips and techniques with which most everyone needs to be reminded. Our team met shortly after the training and was energized and had an increased level of confidence in their ability to tackle every day stress!

What is coaching? Coaching is not
therapy or counseling. One analogy is: "Therapy is like helping
someone with a broken leg to walk again. Coaching is helping them to
run the four minute mile." Tony Grant - Sydney University.
My Legacy Coaching, LLC - I help people to learn to live unregretted lives.
My passion is to give people the HOW tools to move and grow in direction of building the life they REALLY want. I help people who are feeling stuck.
Instead of just surviving or "hanging in there,", I help my clients to thrive in their personal and/or professional lives. I help them with balance, perspective, and resilience.
A willing heart does not stay stagnant while working with me.
You tell me what you are looking for (if you don't know, I'll help you uncover it), I share tools, and then I encourage and inspire and hold you accountable.
Encourage = to give heart. Inspire = to give breath; to give life.
If you are ready to explore your options with coaching, or think a friend or family member might be ready, call or email me! I offer a 20-30 minute free exploratory session to all new clients to answer questions and let them see how coaching might work in their lives.
