TOOL of the day |
DO SOMETHING...
for someone else
So here's the deal. You're a little down.
Or a lot down. Things just keep going wrong and you can't seem to get out of your spiral.
Take some time to pull your thoughts away from you and your situation and circumstances. As you focus on someone else - a friend, a stranger, your child, a co-worker, you won't focus as much on your own issues. In fact, as you pay attention, as you pull out of your own world for a bit, you will notice a lessening of your own doubts, fears, depressed thoughts, pain.
I have two friends who have been going through chronic physical pain. They each say that they can deal with the pain so much better as they keep their minds occupied. They take the focus off of the PAIN and consciously place it on someONE or someTHING else.
◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Go out of your way to help a loved one
with a chore that they have been "meaning to do"
and get it done for them.
Ask them what they would delegate
if they could. Figure out a way to help.
◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊
Call someone and give them a heart-felt thank you
for something they did for you recently.
Or how about something someone did a long time ago for you
that you'll never forget? (Leaving a message is ok!)
>>>> TAKE THE TIME
to write someone a note,
email, or letter telling them
how they have impacted your life.>>>>
There are jump-start ideas in Tools of Hope.
But for every idea listed in the book,
there are unlimited others you can do to
DO SOMETHING... FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
It's really a matter of you making the choice to do it.

What's your responsibility? |
What? Like what? My responsibility for what?
Like being a co-worker.
Like taking care of your clients. Like your responsibility as a parent. Like being a friend. Like being a good family member.
The fact is that you have a responsibility
because you are being watched by others.
Especially in down times. It's important for you to make the choice of how you will carry your responsibility and leadership. Whether you think yourself a leader or not. It's not about the title. It's about your actions.
It's about who's watching you. It's about who you are leading. By example. Whether you realize it or not. You touch people around you, every day. In person, on the phone, out running your errands.
So how do you keep yourself "up?"
In this economy, with tight budgets and bad news looming large on a daily basis? With sleepless nights, worrying about taxes, your kids, your parents, finances or health issues keeping you down?
What choices do YOU make, daily, to hold your head high, keep it screwed on straight, and help others along the way?
The choices you are making each day are creating YOU. Who do you want to be?
The choices you make influence your attitude, your behavior at work, toward you family, and how you treat yourself.
What message are you sending to those around you? If it's not one that you would be proud of, or that you'd want to pass on, what are you going to do about it?
I know that times are tough right now. I know that it's hard to keep your head up. BUT even if you don't have control over all of those external things, you DO have control over your responses, your attitude, and how you treat others.
You DO have control over your choices, and they will be your legacy.
Use some simple ideas to help you make some different choices,
to build your legacy, and to change your future.

 Tools of Hope Workshops
Our team was so impressed with your professionalism and method of delivery. In fact, your insightful real life stories turned out to be the highlight of the training. You were able to speak to our team in a language familiar to them and to provide them with the tips and techniques with which most everyone needs to be reminded. Our team met shortly after the training and was energized and had an increased level of confidence in their ability to tackle every day stress!
