Parker River National Wildlife Refuge - Wildlife Everywhere:
Rescheduled - Piping Plover Workshop Saturday May 15th, 9:30-11:30am, ages 10 and Up
Come and learn about this amazing bird. Together we will discuss the natural history of the piping plover, participate in some plover activities, and even help to make a plover display. That display will be used to educate others about the piping plover, and what we do to help it. Meet at The Refuge Visitor Center.
The Big Picture Plant Walk Sunday May 16th, 11am-12:30pm, ages 10 & Up
Black cherry, beach plum, and pines! Come identify and learn about the most abundant species of plants on Plum Island. Join refuge volunteer Adaela McLaughlin for an in depth exploration of the big picture on our Pines Trail. Please dress appropriately for the weather and meet up at the Pines Trail. (Just past the Bill Forward Bird Blind and before Parking Lot 5, as you drive down Refuge Road.)

Tuesday May 18 "White on White" Time: 7:00 pm Location: "Old South" Church 29 Federal St. Photographer Steve Rosenthal's short film and lecture about the early rural churches of New England. Following the presentation his book, "White on White" will be available for sale and signing.
Wednesday May 19 "Restoring Old Hill" Time: 6:00 pm Location: "Old Hill" Burying Ground corner Greenleaf & Pond St. behind Bartlet Mall.
Thursday May 20 "Tiptoe through the Tombstones" Time: 6-8:00 pm Location: "Oak Hill" Cemetery main entrance at State and Brown Street. Tour this historic cemetery with Ghlee Woodworth, a 12th generation NBPT native followed by a wine tasting reception and book signing of "Tiptoe through the Tombstones" by the author Ghlee Woodworth at the restored Brown Chapel. |

 Historical Society of Old Newbury: Dr. James Haxby - "The Birth of Currency in the US"
Sat, May 15, following the J. Ceremony takes place at 98 High Street and begins at 1:00pm.
Lecture will be given at the Firehouse.The Historical Society of Old Newbury, Cushing House Museum will be holding a ceremonial "ribbon cutting" to honor the purchase and first phase of restoration of the Jacob Perkins Printing and Engraving Building, 98 High Street Newburyport, Massachusetts.It is this 1808 three-story brick edifice built and used by Jacob Perkins which is being acknowledged as the earliest examples of a printing and engraving building extant.

Zach Field Drum Studios presents: Plum Island Pans Sunday, May 16, 5pm
Plum Island Pans is the steel drum and percussion ensemble program at Zach Field Drum Studios in Newburyport. There are 5 different Plum Island Pans groups consisting of 4 different student ensembles and a professional faculty ensemble. The student ensembles ages range from 7-18, all 5 groups will be performing at this concert. The ensembles will perform traditional calypso, reggae and popular songs on steel drums, a drumset piece with a total of 9 drumsets playing at once, African hand drum pieces and standard orchestral percussion ensemble compositions.
