Dear Friends and Family,

Spring has come early at Next Step Recovery with new growth in both our men's and women's recovery programs including a new healthy dinners program and onsite yoga and meditation classes.

This May marks Next Step Recovery's 5th Anniversary! We will celebrate with a huge May Day FUNdraiser complete with barbecue, live music and a raffle with some terrific BIG prizes from local businesses, restaurants and artisans. Stay tuned for more details!

As always, thank you for supporting Next Step Recovery and our courageous men and women who are working hard to overcome the disease of addiction. We couldn't do this life-changing work without you. Please check out our new  eCharity Box for a fun and easy way to donate online. Every dollar helps!

Grapes DinnersHealthy Dinners Program

We are excited to announce our new healthy dinners program.

Sunday-Thursday nights, our Men's Program residents will enjoy a nutritious home-cooked meal, one that they have helped to plan and prepare as part of our life skills training.

Good nutrition is so important during early recovery that we are offering it at minimal cost to our residents. We have increased weekly rent by just $5.00 per dinner - less than the cost of a fast food meal and much more nourishing. Our residents also benefit from the camaraderie and support they share while preparing and eating meals together!

We are also excited about the yoga and meditation classes we have begun offering at our Women's House. We have a qualified yoga teacher, Kendall Williams, who comes to our recovery house two mornings a week. On alternating weekdays, we have group meditation.

The mindful awareness that is cultivated in sitting meditation and in guided movement is invaluable for healing from the trauma of addiction. Both yoga and meditation encourage self-reflection, compassion and the development of healthy coping skills. Our residents love these new additions to the program!

Recovering Hope

Love this deep

doesn't make it into

many books.

it doesn't sell,

it isn't sexy or dramatic

It is the joy of seeing a loved one get well.

Certain stories

you just stop reading.

They aren't hopeful;

Seem too pained

There is no possibility

of a happy ending,

And so you leave the room.

I see the wrinkles flee your form as you smile, relieved.

I realize that I am living to see a day I never believed in.

I am alive

and you are also alive,

And the plot and the purpose are being revealed.
