Parent Testimonial

Our son is excited about your program; he has never sounded more positive.

We have experienced several previous attempts at addressing his addiction issues with little to no success.

The thing that is the most impressive about Next Step is the commitment of the staff involved in your program and the quality of the young men striving to work through various addiction issues.

From our very first visit, we were amazed with the positive and polite men in your program; there was a very positive attitude from everyone involved. We never experienced this before.

Our son deals with relationship addiction issues, and the ability to be associated with quality people is critical to his success.

Thank you for your hard work.

 Next Step Recovery
Dear Friends and Family,

As we approach the holidays here at Next Step Recovery, our residents have many things to celebrate: every day of sobriety, our supportive community of friends and families, improved health and peace of mind, and hard-won personal victories over addiction that require a great deal of dignity, integrity, courage and strength.

These gifts can't be wrapped in boxes or tied with bows, but they are the most precious gifts of all.

The holidays, with their focus on friends, families and parties, are also perhaps the most challenging time for those in recovery. During this time, lost or strained relationships may be felt more deeply, loneliness can feel more acute, and dysfunctional family patterns may seem inescapable. And recovering addicts have to face all these challenges without their familiar emotional crutch of alcohol or drugs.

It is not surprising that this is the time when many on the path of recovery stumble and fall.

This is where I find my thoughts and prayers going as the days grow cold and we enter the darkest time of year. Prayers that those who have lost their way can find the light of love and forgiveness, that this light can rekindle hope and lead these weary souls back to safe, structured programs like Next Step Recovery where we can receive them with compassion, a spirit of forgiveness, and the support of friends and staff who are working the program one precious day at a time.

Here at Next Step Recovery Men's and Women's Programs, we are wishing you all a season of light and invite you to share it with those who need its warmth and guidance. If you know someone in early recovery who needs support this holiday season, please encourage them to call us. We have plenty of light to share.

Warmly,

Susan Stader

All We Want for Christmas...

Xmas Buddy

We were able to fill one Christmas request from our Men's Program residents: Buddy, our lovable new puppy. Our biggest holiday wishes, however, require your support.

Next Step Recovery is a nonprofit that relies on donations to sustain its recovery programs for men and women. This year we have designated two main areas where your holiday donation can do the most good.

Scholarship Fund:  Many of our residents come to us having lost everything to the disease of addiction. Your donation can help a man or woman who has the desire but not the means to enter our transitional-living recovery program.

You can direct your donation to cover the $2,000 admission fees for either program and/or a month's rent ($600 for the men's program; $2,400 for the women's). Your gift of recovery could last a lifetime.

Home Improvement Fund:  Currently, we need $10,000 to replace badly worn carpeting in two of our men's homes ($5,000 per home).

We are always in need of AA/NA books, bedding, home and kitchen supplies. If you would like to purchase one or more of these items, please visit our
Amazon.com wish list.

New Carpet Arrives!

This Fall, we installed new carpeting throughout the main house of our men's program. The house looks
and feels great!

We are still seeking donations to help us carpet our two remaining men's houses. Carpeting will cost $5,000 for each house.

If you are interested in supporting our men's program from the "ground up" please contact Susan Stader by email or by phone at 350-9960.
Opening Doors To Support Families
ODRC offers new family support group

We are excited to announce that Open Door Recovery Center, a nonresidential extension of Next Step Recovery, is now offering a Family Support Group.
hands
This weekly group is designed to help families of addicts focus on their own recovery and healing. Enrollment is open, and families may join any time during the 12-week program cycle.

Our Family Support Group is led
by Sally Jenkins, MS, LCAS, CSS who has worked with individuals and families in recovery for more than 20 years. Over her career, Sally has created and run many family recovery support programs in a variety of therapeutic settings.

Sally is passionate about helping families through the recovery process by providing education and emotional support.

"For a long time the addict has been the focus and center of care and concern," Sally notes.

"However, family members need to work on their own recovery because addiction takes its toll on the entire family," she adds.

If you are interested in learning more about our Family Support Group please contact us by email or by phone at 350-9960.
With Gratitude & Warm Wishes for 2011

In closing, we would like to thank each of you for supporting Next Step Recovery and its programs in 2010. We are grateful to all those who make recovery possible for the courageous men and women we serve.

Wishing you happy holidays and a wonderful new year!

From all of us at Next Step Recovery
