Dear Families and Friends,
We are happy to announce that Next Step Recovery has been fortunate enough to reach our annual campaign goal with a recent grant from the Hanley Family Foundation that helped take us over the finish line.
We have also been blessed with a generous donation from All Soul's Cathedral to support our indigent client's fund. All Soul's donated $1,200 to Next Step Recovery, which is equivalent to two months of rent for our men's program - two months that might mean the difference between a lasting recovery and a lifetime of addiction.
This month, we are celebrating the first anniversary of our women's
program. It has been an exciting year of tremendous growth.
All of us here at Next Step Recovery would like to take this opportunity to say
"thank you" to all of our friends and families. Without the support
of individuals and organizations like you, we could not realize our mission to help men and women live successful, strong and substance-free lives.
As always, please feel free to call or email with any questions about any of our programs or just to say hello!
Sincerely,
Susan Stader

NSR Meets Annual Campaign Goal
We are excited to announce that we recently met our 2010 Annual Campaign goal thanks to a matching grant from the Hanley Family Foundation (HFF). This grant, combined with the Janirve Foundation's $15,000 grant and individual donations, brings the total funds raised this year to just over $30,000! Reaching our goal makes it possible for us to purchase a minivan for our women's program to provide transportation for AA/NA meetings, job interviews, job searches, grocery shopping and, last but not least, our Sunday Adventure outings. The Hanley Family Foundation was created in 1986 to
advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of alcoholism,
chemical dependency and addictive
behavior, including support for related research and education. We are grateful to receive their support. |

Women's Program First Anniversary
Kathy Ronemus,LPC,LCAS,CCS | This month marks the first anniversary of the founding of our women's residential recovery program.
Over the past year, our women's program has flourished with the support of our wonderful staff, AA/NA sponsors and volunteers.
We have expanded from a garden cottage with 6 residents to include a historic main lodge that houses up to 11 women with nearly an acre of beautiful Japanese gardens.
With the skillful support of Elizabeth Read and Cindy Welding, we have been able to add a Sunday Adventure program. We know our female residents will enjoy their outdoor adventures as much as our men do.
We are also pleased to announce that Kathy Ronemus, who leads our Relapse Prevention group once a week, will increase her hours starting August 23, 2010. We are thrilled that Kathy will be able to spend more time with our staff and residents; she is a great asset to our Next Step Recovery team.

Help Us Take a Fresh Step
We need new carpet for our men's residential recovery houses. The carpets in both houses are badly worn and in need of replacement. This much-needed home improvement is estimated to cost $15,000. Each of our homes has more than 3,000 square feet of living space, and our two homes support 24 adult males (that's a lot of feet!). If you would like to help through a private donation or a matching challenge, please contact Susan Stader at 828-350-9960 or by email at susan@nextsteprecovery.com .
