Men's Program Rafting Trip 2010
Rafting Trip 2010
part 2 Dear Families & Friends,

Summer is in full swing! Everyone is enjoying the beautiful mountain town we live in. Asheville comes alive in the summer months with festivals of all kinds including music, arts and mountain culture.

The men have been busy cultivating a small vegetable garden, and the women have been busy looking for a full-time Adventure Program leader for their house. We are happy to say that finally, after a long search, we found two young women, both trained wilderness guides, to take on this fun task starting next week!

We welcome you to come visit our two locations when you are in the area! Please feel free to call or email with any questions, concerns, or comments about our programs.

Sincerely,

Susan Stader

Women's Program Welcomes New Staff

We are pleased to introduce our friends and families to our newest staff members at Next Step Recovery for Women. Kathy and Ashley are both wonderful additions to our women's program and are committed to ensuring our residents have the best possible support as they work on  developing healthy skills and beliefs that encourage long-term recovery.

part 2Kathy Ronemus LPC, LCAS, CCS is our staff supervisor. She facilitates our women's weekly relapse prevention group. This group focuses on personal growth, responsibility and emotional freedom. Our residents work on changing mistaken beliefs that can lead to relapse. Kathy is in private practice in Hendersonville where she works with individuals, groups and families in recovery. Kathy is a former women's counselor and intensive outpatient program manager for Pavillon (a residential treatment center).

Ashley Daughtry, BA, is one of our recovery support coaches. Ashley has a background in management and administration which she draws upon to support residents by maintaining the continuity of our structured program, assisting residents with daily needs, and encouraging residents in their recovery work using her own experience at Next Step for Women.
Men's Program Summer Adventures

In addition to working hard on their individual recoveries, working and volunteering in the community and supporting each other, our residents have been learning to have fun without drugs and alcohol through a variety of outdoor adventures including rafting trips down the Green and French Broad Rivers, hiking through Dupont State Forest, and rock climbing at Compression Falls.

In July, the our men's program residents will enjoy a two-night camping trip with Mick Masterson as well as several day hikes on natural trails that feature waterfalls and natural pools.

We invite you to follow our adventures by visiting out our newly launched Next Step Recovery for Men blog!

part 2
This program has given me my life back. Next Step has given me the tools to hold myself accountable in my recovery. I have been clean and sober for more than six months, and my life is more than I could have ever imagined.

With the help of my higher power, my sponsor, and the Next Step community, I have been able to blossom. This program has taught me to live in the moment. The fellowship with the women at the house has allowed me to successfully interact in a community.

Recently, I have overcome obstacles that previously would have sent me into a downward spiral. I am forever grateful to Susan Stader for creating this program and for believing in me.

This program works if you work it, so work it and live!
