Welcome to NEXT STEP RECOVERY, INC Dear Families and Friends,
It's hard to believe that June is already here! We are busy planning our second annual rafting trip on June 5, and our second annual hiking and camping trip. This summer, our Outdoor Adventure Programs will take our residents on many small hikes around the area so they can explore the many waterfalls tucked away throughout our beautiful mountains.
Last month, we celebrated our fourth anniversary supporting individuals recovering from the disease of addiction here in Western North Carolina! Over the last four years, Next Step Recovery has worked very hard to grow and enhance our programming. We were thrilled to be able to open our new women's houses in Weaverville, NC this past year.
We are so blessed to have been a part of the many lives that have come through our doors over the past four years and, as a team, we look forward to planting seeds in many more lives as we continue to strengthen the progress of recovery in each individual.
Warmly,
Susan Stader

Mick's Next Step (a new adventure!)
We are happy to announce Mick Masterson has taken a new job as a field guide at a local wilderness program! Mick will still be coordinating our men's Outdoor Adventure Program in his spare time.
Many of you have spoken with Mick on the phone as he has facilitated many of our move-ins. He is now looking forward to transitioning outdoors full-time. Mick is currently working on a degree in counseling and is completing his training as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). Congratulations Mick!

Next Step Recovery Welcomes New Staff
We are pleased to welcome two new staff members to our Next Step
Recovery Team.
Brian Nolan is our new Office Manager. Brian uses his extensive
office management experience to ensure our office runs smoothly, and h
e
educates prospective residents and families about our transitional
living program for men and women. Brian also supports current residents
on a daily basis, drawing on his own experience working on his
individual 12-step program and being a strong support to those newly in
recovery.
Tom Ostrander grew up on a small farm in northern Michigan where he developed a
love for the outdoors. Tom brings rich life experiences with him to Next Step Recovery including serving as a pastor for three churches and working as a corporate sales manager. Tom holds master's degrees in both Divinity and Business Administration.
In 2007, Tom followed his passion for service and the outdoors and joined Aspen Education at Four Circles Recovery Center. He became the
second wilderness guide to reach the senior level and is certified as
a WFR and
NCI-CPI. Tom's interests also include martial arts, Native American
